I guess I am, for now, a creature of some change when it comes to some technology.
Windows changed the Start menu almost every iteration since 95. I've learned to roll with it. In fact, I hardly use the Start menu at all now, but I'm glad there is the menu choice, because kicking aside the entire screen to get options was silly, unless you were on a mobile.
Similarly with Office, the change to the ribbon was widely despised. I can't say I'm a huge fan, but I've learned to roll with the punches.
All said and done, keyboard shortcut keys have helped me stay rather immune to the trends!
I'm not sure why people are having huge problems with W10 upgrades, both before and after installing W10. When I was asked if I want to Get Windows 10 whilst using my previous OS, it would bug you to download it and then further bug you to install it, but it was never fully automatic for me. Similarly, with W10 upgrades, they do download and install (some) in the background, but restarts are also prompted, so I don't have to force myself to close all programs and save all work as soon as upgrades install. I leave my laptop running overnight sometimes to finish really large downloads. My upgrade system is set to install at 3.30 am each day, but it must be only if the system state is idle, otherwise I haven't seen my laptop restart by itself.
