The totally off-topic thread

In light of some of the other things discussed, I thought this was pretty mild. YMMV. Anyway, it's moved to the correct thread now.

It was pretty disgusting, I don't recall anything as disgusting being openly discussed.

Still John Elliot's opinion is that everyone must have 1 good poo story.

Coles Facebook Page admits that their fresh milk is made from reconstituted milk powder.

That is insane! How dare they! Not that I buy their stuff. But that is a consumer insult for those who do.

Ok. Just saw Dame's post. Serious typo error there.

Whoever made that "typo" might be looking for a new job today. Whether true or not, hopefully it kills off these $1 a litre in house brands.

I have had quite a few of them lately.

In many ways domestic road warrior is just as hard (or harder than) regularly long haul for work...

Thankfully I don't do too much domestic ground hogging, respect to all of you who do. Give me long haul any day !! :D

*Sigh* We always want what we don't have...I'd love to do some International sectors for work. But the cost (and the inexpensive use of Skype) puts paid to that pipe dream. I'd love to fly BNE/HKG/LHR to see my clients there...:(

The grass is always greener?

FWIW, I don't mind, but the early starts are something I am not particularly used to.

Always...but I'll accept my lot (at least I am flying)...

I hate the early starts as well (I'm a night person), but my budget doesn't extend to flying out the night before. Now I generally do day trips to everywhere bar PER. Will actually have a couple of SYD overnighters this year, due to the wide expanse of clients and ability to only see some of them after work...

The latest bill from AGL is interesting. It is for $56 but....

The first bill of the quarter was for 29 days for ~$60. The second bill for the quarter was for 31 days for $62. I was here less than half the month and complained. Asked to go back to quarterly and they said no need to pay the second quarter. The third bill of the quarter is for 36 days () for ~$56.

So essentially ~$116 for 96 days where as initially they wanted ~$122 for 2 months/60 days.

Now I will be stuffed how a quarter has become 96 days. :p Almost as good as Medibank bringing my due date forward 3 days last month without adjusting the premium down.

Neither was mine?

But in any case, I have unsubscribed from that thread. Onwards and upwards.

Well, probably. They'd probably be copping a lot of flak. How the hell do you make a mistake like that in such a big post. That's like "accidentally" pressing the button to launch the nuclear missile...

Whether true or not, hopefully it kills off these $1 a litre in house brands.

I doubt it will; in fact, I don't think the damage to Coles' sales of their brand of milk will be anything material, unless it sparks some sort of mega investigation from some authority to see if it really is reconstituted from milk powder.

Even if it ends up going down that path... first it would take that authority some degree of scepticism not to believe Coles on face value and actually launch an investigation.

Besides, had this been a real conspiracy by now, I'm sure some nut - qualified or otherwise - would have already caught on and proven the scheme, as it can't be that silly difficult to find out. Let's not forget that this kind of discovery - if true - would be right up the alley of dairy companies not affiliated with the supermarkets, so it would be in their best interests to find something wrong with supermarket milk.

Finally, unless people are dying from the milk, which isn't happening, people aren't exactly going to stop buying nor drinking it. Remember all those scandals related to whether bread was fresh baked in store or those apples which came fresh from the farm? Yep, still here and still filling supermarket coffers (and bread has even dropped in price from the standard).

The only "disgusting" or as I prefer "a little ick" thing was probably Cossie's cat and the head infection. The rest is par for the course if you have animals.

Was he nice or conniving?

And the moral of the story is...

American Airlines ‘golden ticket’ lawsuit: Steve Rothstein says AA ‘destroyed’ his persona

STEVE Rothstein was once the envy of many.

The savvy New York investment banker snapped up the holy grail of air travel back in 1987 — a rare “golden ticket” giving him unlimited first class flights with American Airlines.

At the time, it set him back $340,000 — but he made sure to get his money’s worth out of the deal in the years that followed, jetting off to exotic destinations at the drop of a hat.

He sat in the most comfortable airline seats, enjoyed the best meals and entertainment, bypassed long queues at the airport and never had to worry about cancellation fees.

His high-flying ways have ended up costing the airline a whopping $29 million, having taken 10,000 flights and travelled more than 10 million miles. That includes 500 trips to the UK, 70 to Australia and 120 to Tokyo.

By way of comparison as an investment until he got 'too generous' - 3 brm semi in Randwick cost $90,000 in 1987 (pre-crash) and is $1.5m today. So (OK not adjusting for exchange rates admitted) $29m worth of use vs around $6.5m of houses.

Who needs Willy Wonka?

I honestly didn't think it was that bad, I'm sure posters with children have put up with way more disgusting things.... just saying :)

From an earlier post from Medhead, poo stories? I have a heap from my days traveling in India and Africa, some real stomach churners there!
If someone wants to start a thread........... :)
