The totally off-topic thread

Many years ago, when I was in primary school (I think grade 5 or 6), one of the teachers rear ended our car at a set of traffic lights. Fairly awkward! (And, she was one of the hottest teachers in my primary school too ! )

Some numpty drove into the back of my daughter at traffic lights in Randwick last week and drove off without stopping. Very minor damage but as she's a P Plater with a massive excess it's not worth claiming.
We went to the Police but she was so flustered that she didn't get the licence plate.

Ouch. That's even worse.

Hey Cove! What connection do you have with the Sheraton in Lisbon? Only three Internet connections for normal logins, but they gave me a special login for unlimited devices with user name "COVE" plus A and it works! :)

Everest is beyond my reach but i have a wish to get to base camp...one day soon.

One of the AFF members has just been to Everest base camp earlier this year, as seen on their facebook posts. I know them from many years ago, IRL.

Yes. But the whole process is a pain. Getting quotes. Repairs. Inconvenience. Mind you, given the stupidity of the peanuts you see on the road these days, its surprising there aren't more accidents.

While I hate the premiums I pay to Suncorp, the great bit is that I drop the car off at their assessment centre and they get it fixed, including arranging to get me to the repairer when it has to be picked up. The pain is they wouldn't add my car rental expenses, that I paid, to their claim against the other party to have a joint claim. Sure I didn't select the rental car option, but I wasn't asking them to pay for the rental car.

Or in my case the numpty gave me a false name and threatened me as I was in work uniform with "I know where you work" type thing.

Was a total PITA as they sided with the one in the wrong initially, but being stubborn and Italian I ensured that the insurance company backed down and took the correct course of action in the end...

I had someone drive into the right rear quarter of my car from the inside lane of a roundabout on an airport. Bloody AFR sided when the other driver and got all aggressive with me. An aggressive "Wait there I deal with you shortly". Seriously look at the damage idiot!

Why were you driving when still in primary school? :)

DOB wrong on birth certificate? Blame parents.
Blame the person that got it wrong. Born Sunday morning and dad went to the registrar on Monday and they used that date.

I have been using my real DOB for everything. Bank accounts, tax file number etc but in recent years some things require proof. Now my accounts are split with DOB usage and it gets confusing trying remember which is which.

Oh and I can't change any account because DOB is the only thing you cannot change even if it's wrong.

I had someone drive head-on into my (parked) car last year then drive off without leaving details. Didnt catch their rego either so that was a nice expense.

Has anyone had any experience with crowd funding? I notice there are a few crowd funding websites. Wondering if all can be used for the same purpose or whether the conditions prevent using the competition.

Have a $100 Myer gift card. Briefly went to Myer the other day and almost fainted.

Is there anything at Myer that is not grossly overpriced?

as medhead said... Myer price matches (and happily so). Just go to an online comparison site, find the cheapest price (available in your city), print a copy and take it with you. Price match at register (they usually keep the print out to attach to their receipt or whatever). Price match can be used with gift cards or vouchers.

Thanks. Other than price matching everything at Myer is overpriced? I was hoping to buy some clothes and saw the price tags and nearly fainted. I'll try to find something I need to price match.

I don't agree that they're over priced, it all depends on the item. But happy to accept your view, with the note that pricing matching should over come the issue.

Can you wait till the winter sales start? They used to be mid year, but seem more frequent recently.

Well that was cathartic. I just wrote a long but factual letter to the Rheumatologist. He probably will throw it in the bin. I don't care. I will send it tomorrow. I will read it to my GP when I return from Queensland. And hope to get some closure on all this. Shouldn't be this hard.
