It's 06:45am and the pax near me is looking at MyDanMurphys on her phone. Bit early, but she must be one of us surely?
Adelaide in for a wild wet few days. Snow in the hills tomorrow!

The doctor chose to bulk bill me on Friday. I was a bit surprised when I got to the front desk to pay, and got told I had nothing to pay. (My GP is a private doctor who charges approximately double the scheduled fee).
Small victories.
It's quite sad when you find out a friend of yours died, via Facebook. Mysterious circumstances, but you can't really probe as to what happened.
Supposed to be working from home today. The USB with all my work stuff has disappeared!
Well I thought it disappeared, actually it's in the TV after showing the family the latest travel pictures. Looks like I can't get out of work that easy.

He obviously knows who you are!
Very sad - I had a similar thing happen.
It took months of backchanelling to find out it was a suicide, and the family did their best to keep it quiet. Very sad indeed.
I experienced similar with a school friend. I only found out because my mum saw the death notice in the paper. To this day her facebook page is still active and occasionally people post on it when theyve finally found out what happened.
You can imagine how often this happens, but it doesn't hit you until it happens to you.
If you think of the road toll (alone) - that's close to 1,200 people/year that are wiped out with next to no warning (may survive a day or two but not posting to anything).
Add in those who unfortunately the medical system did not work as supposed - that's another 25,000-40,000 on average per annum.
Add in murders/home invasions/one punch etc.
Really makes me think twice about ensuring all relevant accounts/passwords etc are somewhere in case of unforeseen incident.
Question - for parents with young children (now in the group of later teens ..) - you and partner coming back in car from rare night out for dinner and get taken out permanently by drunk/drugged driver.
- Have you thought about if this did happen?
- Who would pick up the pieces and look after your children?
- Have you asked them if they would (are they physically able to)?
- Have you made a will to reflect changed circumstances (or ever)?
- What steps have you put in place?
- Have you got all your financial & other details put somewhere that they know about?
Unfortunately over the years, with parents that we know well enough (no I don't use this as a conversation starter honestly) not one had considered that scenario until I mentioned in in passing. Often it would be after they remarked about some recent "drunk/drugged driver kills people" story in the media.
Prepare for the worst and you can only get pleasant surprises!
