Re: Army coup Turkey

Can someone please help with Paypal and eBay question?

I have a Paypal account that I linked to 28 Degrees credit card. I now have ~USD110 in Paypal account from cashback sites. I am thinking of buying an R11 driver from USA that costs ~USD130 and only accepts Paypal.

What is it actually going to cost me paying with Paypal?

By the way I can't stand Paypal but the cashback was too nice to ignore. I bought a $65 golf voucher the other day and it cost me $66.50 thanks to $1.50 Paypal surcharge. Greed knows no bounds.

You need to check PayPal settings and change the use credit card exchange rate..... Google it. Default is PayPal exchange rate

I want to pay in USD as the balance in the Paypal account is in USD. I don't want anyone other than 28 Degrees trying to convert to AUD.

Re: Army coup Turkey

Considering NSWP joined AFF in 2009, maybe an AFFer became a cruise critic? :)

Hi Jessica, I admit I am a bit slack, ocean cruising has taken up my life, but with a few flights coming up, eg Syd-LAX and back on ANZ for a Panama Canal Cruise in Nov/Dec and Qantas in March return from HK post QM2, I promise I will be a good boy and come on here more often. Apologies to all, Pushka sussed me out.

I figured it was you "Uncle L" but you won't recognise me as I have a different user ID over on CC - like Pushka post a bit on both boards (and TA as well come to think of it). Must go back to CC and see where you are travelling to. Lots of good info about maximising the flight experience on here (though probably not on this actual thread)

Exactly, so make sure you avoid PayPal charging you in your base currency (AUD) and let it charge in USD, which then means your 28 Degrees card will do the conversion.

A lot of us multiple posters here.Though have eased off a bit on CC and rarely post on TA for the last 3-4 years. But I am the same on all of them but with a number on the end on CC as there was already a drron.

So I can use the balance in my Paypal account as USD and then pay the difference in USD with Paypal but using 28 Degrees credit card. Does Paypal charge me any fees for buying on eBay?

And I am hoping Paypal hasn't already converted the deposit from MrRebates to AUD. :(

You probably don't visit the Silverseas forum and I rarely wander from it.

Way too heady for me drron. Although I dont head into the Carnival and such like areas for the opposite reason. :p

Shouldn't do - it's usually the seller that cops the fee.

Re: Army coup Turkey

As I mentioned earlier that has changed when one purchases vouchers via Golf Link.

Don't trust any greedy corporation.

Paypal will not let it fund from a split between $110 USD already in your paypal account and balance off your credit card to leave you with a $0.00 balance in paypal in the end.

You are best to top up your paypal account to the exact amount in USD - and once you have all the funds in your paypal account, initiate the transaction on Ebay.

Ebay own paypal - well did last time I knew - and Paypal is a requirement of a payment option of all items listed on Ebay. You really cannot use Ebay without using Paypal - double commissions.

Seller pays the commissions to Ebay on a sale (roughly 8%) then also pays paypal a commission on the paypal transaction (roughly 3.2%) - and overall double dip on almost every transaction via ebay.

Re: Army coup Turkey

My paypal account always does a split. Uses funds in the paypal account first, then balance from which ever account I choose.
Every month at work I have to track items purchased using both funds.

Private Equity strikes again. It wasn't the pizza battle that killed them, it was the usual Private Equity strangling the golden goose that killed them ... Hope someone follows the money trail!

Wouldn't say this one is Private Equity as much as the tightening (shrinking) market showing up the massive cracks in any Franchise System and the punitive margins the head Franchisor demands/levies on everything. Private Equity doesn't help in any case. There are a number of Franchise systems that will come under pressure I feel in the coming years.

I don't know about coughpy days. But I was just driving home from the city when I ran into a guy on a pushbike who was riding on the wrong side of the road. Turning left, check to the right for cars, see a space, look left and accelerate at the same time, there is this push bike right in front of me. ARGH!!! BRAKES!!! Bang! That was pretty coughpy.
Thank everything I didn't kill him. He seems ok, and starts walking back to a house about 4 up the road on that same side. faded home made looking tattoos, it's his mate's bike, he needs it to get to work, "We don't need to involve the police", just give us some money to get the bike fixed, just let us claim against your insurance...
Needless to say 90 minutes later I've finished reporting it to the police. Even more coughpy.

But the poor bloke seemed nice enough and I'm very glad I didn't kill him.

There is always choice.

Thankfully it turned out well.

I had a scare recently too that left me shaking. Turning right from street near home controlled by lights. I was first in line, waited for a car going straight and then turned and just missed a pedestrian by inches. I do not remember seeing her standing waiting to cross and as I moved off I had the sun straight in my eyes so did not even see her until she yelled at me.
