No. Have spent enough on last minute flights already. There again next Monday.

Use FaceTime or Skype it's ok substitute ( just)

Lecture. JohnK. 'Stuff' happens to good people and bad people because it can. There is no such thing as bad luck.
Bad luck. Jinx. Curse. All are as real as you and me. I have lived through all of them. I'll explain it to you one day.

Now, onto the good things. We need details. Name? Weight? Length? In the old terms not the new fangled metric stuff.
Apparently baby looks like just like daddy. She is 2.49kg and farang. Born Sunday morning like her daddy. Don't know other details yet. Wife is not doing well. I just spoke with her. She had surgery twice. She has lost a lot of blood and has had blood transfusion(s) and there are other complications.

I fly out of HKG back to SYD in ~6 hours. Will try to find out more information later.

Congratulations JohnK on the birth of Daddy's little girl.Glad she is doing fine.
Although your wife is having problems it certainly sounds like things will be fine in the long run.Hopefully the news will be better when you arrive in Sydney.

This belongs in the weird things you've seen in your travels thread and didn't think existed.

El Al flight from BKK-TLV and check-in is the strangest I have ever seen. Passengers are interviewed before proceeding to check-in. A random lady was taking a photo of a random known couple with the security podiums and check-in counters in background and what appears to be security came around and told them to turn around and take photo with Family Mart in background.

I need another Archa or 2....

Just some standard questions, no big deal:
Did you pack the luggage yourself?
Was it in your possession the whole time?
Did anyone gave you anything to deliver?

They earned the unofficial title of most secure airline for a reason...
The negative side is some Israeli Arabs are sometimes detained in foreign airports for no apparent reason and eventually released given no explanation but that's life, security is always the number one priority even if it offends a few people on the way.

On a more positive note, congratulations on the birth of your baby, I know how much you were looking forward to this moment and hope your wife will recover soon.

Thanks guys. Last minute flights booked already.

SYD-BKK QF8419 tomorrow night
BKK-SYD QF24 back Friday night

Cannot possibly agree but now is not the time or place for that argument.

Congratulations JohnK. It will all turn out OK just get back there and get your own peace of mind sorted.

Wife will be surprised. I bet she'll say "Darling, why you lose more money on flights?". :o

You have 'educated' her then. She will be thrilled and proud to show you your daughter. Priceless.

Congratulations JohnK

My thoughts and prayers are with you , your wife and new baby girl. I hope your wife has family and friends there looking after her.

JohnK I am older than you and experienced pretty much everything that you would expect but do not feel it is bad luck but just part of the tapestry of life. Just as you are experiencing now.

So I was right, of course! ;)

Congrats to all 3 of you and best of luck!

A golf ball spinning and moving right to left in the air travelling down hill on a right to left slope with the wind blowing right to left and the green on the left hits the ground and goes right and back up the hill.

The first time it's a coincidence. The second time it's a coincidence. Subsequent times occurring regularly are not coincidences. They are one of either bad luck, jinx or curse.

There is much more. Something/someone controls our destiny. It's a fact. I cannot prove it yet but I will at some point.

Some would call it skill (or lack of) We are the master of our own destiny.
