Doctors put it down to stressed immune status due to travel and repeated cycling between 18oC airconditioned lecture theatre and 32oC 90% humidity Maltese summer. They did say I was not contagious.
Perhaps an infectious pneumonia is not necessarily a contagious pneumonia?

If it is a bacterial or viral pneumonia it is infectious/contagious at some stage of the illness.
And cold temperatures by themselves don't cause you to catch a viral or bacterial pneumonia. This was shown at the Common Cold Unit in the UK.If you were in isolation in extreme cold you did not catch a cold unless you were administered a CC virus.
The problem is people tend to congregate inside in cold weather aiding transmission.

As to Hilary her doctor said specifically it was a bacterial pneumonia.

Now there are non infective pneumonias and those would be non contagious but that was not what was reported.

What have I forgotten to pack???? 1 bag 14kg, the other 17kg - and only because it has another bag inside of it.
Let's see what 7 weeks on the road can bump those figures up too......

Our two bags are already over the 23kg, both roll ons are FULL - and we are about to arrive in BKK !!!! The trouble is I packed too many jumpers - expecting cold weather - and Europe had a heatwave ( alright -it got to 26C  ) but in the last 7 weeks I have been very good and hardly bought a thing ( 3 pairs of shoes and a few T shirts, and 3 skirts DONT count ! )

From what I understand it's a simple process if one of the parents is an Australian citizen at time of birth. Need to apply and pay appropriate fine.

No doubt you already have this link: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Citi/pathways-processes/application-options/descent/documents

But there was a bit at the end about documents which might be in a foreign language (which I guess could mean birth certificates and stuff). You'll need to contact the Aussie embassy or consulate in Thailand for advice on translation (if applicable).

A first for me.Posting from AY089.
No audio on my seat, route map not working, cameras only showing a flashing red light in the darkness.
So nothing else to do but post away whilst trying to drink them dry.

Try harder drron. Your English is still not jumbled. Good red wine can assist you and some doctors think it is a good idea.

The reds were enjoyable. On my second glass of port now but still don't feel sleepy.

That's tidy compared to some of the cough that I see bogans leave in our beautiful town. I asked one group of bogans who were leaving more rubbish than I would make in a week if they were going to dispose of it. Their answer: Someone is paid to clean that up. To which I replied, Who wipes your bum? your mother or your wife?

That's littering and they ought to be fined. Don't you have rangers ?

I thought we shamed Aussies into anti littering in the 70/80's

Just saw my sister for the first time in a few months.

We then spent our visit discussing various ailments in us and our husbands, retirement plans ect.

When did we get so old?
Time flies, money flies, butterflies......you have to enjoy it all while you can.

Roger on that. There is a translation service not far from embassy. Usually costs ~500 baht. Will need that translation for Medicare?

And a silly question from a total newbie. Is it enough to have Medicare cover only for daughter? I'd hate to think what would happen to my already $100+ Medibank private single premium should I include my daughter. The GP she will visit bulk bills.

I expect you would need to register your daughter before Medicare will pay anything. And you would need family cover not single. Because kids are always needing something. But that's a personal choice. If you considered that you personally needed private health insurance then I would think that you feel the same about your family. The good news is that family cover also includes your wife.

Keep in mind JohnK that until your wife and your baby are citizens, they will need "overseas visitor" cover regardless of Medicare. (assuming wife is Thai and not Australian citizen yet)

Very wise info. Medicare does not have a reciprocal health agreement with Thailand.
