Currently in England, I have lived in Oz for 54 years, arrived as a young bride. Had 5 Aussie children, many Aussie grandchildren, worked majority of the 52 years in Oz, very proud to be an Aussie. Over the years people ask me where I'm from, I reply Australia. My work colleagues over the years tease me when I say I sound like an Aussie. I'm not ashamed of my heritage, just recognise myself as Australian.
My daughter & I went through the supermarket check out Monday, when I walked away, the girl asked my daughter where we were from as she heard 2 different accents, oy vey.

Oy vey adds a Jewish slant!

My son's partner has an American grandparent on both sides and British to make up the pairs plus an American born father. She has an American and British passport and hopes to add an Aussie one. My son was born in Sri Lanka and now is an Aussie. One can only imagine the mix of heritage if they have kids.

Interestingly her brother can vote in the US elections as he worked in the US but lives in the U.K. She cant vote but only because her US address is in Indianapolis and that is one state which doesn't allow postal votes for people in her situation. Had she registered in Colorado she could vote. Strangely not for Trump.

Apparently Miss Daisy was a goat in a former life. She gets miffed that she can't see in the back door so climbs onto the table to look through the window  and she can't seem to get down again without help.

The economy is running quite slowly around Perth at the moment and in some areas housing prices have dropped by more than 10% and tenants are paying up to 20% less in rent. Jobs are scarce so there is much less job hopping compared with 5 years ago.

So my husband wants to buy this.

He thinks he will use it when he retires in Feb to do the shopping. The shops are approx 3klms from us.

Is there an old post that I dont know about?

Him: They send it in a box so I just have to put it together
Me: Oh, Honey. It takes you 6mths and an argument to sweep the driveway.
Him: Fine! I'll get Trevor (our Hire a Hubby guy) to put it together. Call it outsourcing!

Hubby currently "outsources" our lawn mowing, car cleaning, house repairs and even his toe nail cutting (pedicures) so Im not at all surprised.

Have to book a night for hubby to do a night photography tour in the Blue Mountains/Katoomba.

What a disappointment the "hotels" are - all very motel like, unless you want to pay $500pn for Lilianfields.

Cant believe this is whats on offer for a world heritage site/the tourists.
have you tried cottages -

https://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/nsw/blue-mountains. There are heaps of different types available and quite inexpensive - some are restrictive on no of nights, but others do one night. I have stayed at Lillianfels as well and it is beautiful and does a lovely high tea :)
