Spaghetti Bolognese just goes on the pile with all the other Western-corrupted dishes around the world. Another Italian dish of note that has been thoroughly corrupted is pizza...

of course some are created just for "western tastes" and therefore corrupted at inception:
Butter Chicken comes to mind.

Funniest thing I heard on a cruise ship porting into Italy. Americans complaining because the pizza didn't taste like real pizza from home. (Thank God!)

Ah travel (and a bit of research) helps open your eyes so much.

One big one that comes to mind is the Western idea of "dim sum", which is common enough in many lounges around the world. The most common "dim sum" that is served or comes to mind when offered in many Western Chinese restaurants or lounges is actually only one kind of dumpling called siu mai (or shao mai). Dim sum actually refers to a range of many small dishes, comprising, amongst others, many kinds of dumplings.

If someone walked into a proper Chinese restaurant and asked for a plate of "dim sum", the server would be likely rather confused, or would go fetch a specific menu.

A bit of a change in NSW overturning the greyhound racing ban, sounds like winning the next election could be a concern.

Nextup NSW to try and change is the lock out laws.

Seems like politicians go to extremes and have trouble finding the happy medium.

Another big news story from the day was, Same-sex marriage plebiscite dead after Labor caucus agreed to block legislation

The same-sex marriage plebiscite is dead in the water and marriage equality stuck in limbo after Labor ended months of speculation and confirmed it will block the proposal in the Senate.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said he could "not in good conscience" support a public vote on same-sex marriage, because it was expensive, non-binding and would inflict untold harm on the gay and lesbian community, especially children.

I wish the government would just change the law and move on to more important issues.

Some writers always find the funny side of what some politicians say.

I generally don't believe in this stuff but this is quite scary.

Useless Trivia said:
As a Life Path 11, you possess an inordinate amount of energy and intuition. There is so much going on in your psyche that you are often misunderstood early in life, making you shy and withdrawn. You have far more potential than you know. You galvanize every situation you enter. You inspire people, but without your conscious effort. Energy seems to flow through you without your controlling it. This gives you both power and sometimes emotional turmoil.

You are a channel for information between the higher and the lower, between the realm of the archetype and the relative world. Ideas, thoughts, understanding, and insight - all of these can come to you without your having to go through a rational thought process. There seems to be a bridge, or connection, between your conscious and unconscious realms, attuning you to a high level of intuition through which even psychic information can flow. All of this amounts to a great capacity for invention. Many inventors, artists, religious leaders, prophets, and leading figures in history have had the 11 prominent in their chart.

Because you are so highly charged, you experience the consequences of a two-edged sword. You possess great abilities, but indulge in much self-reflection and self-criticism. You often feel highly self-conscious. You are aware on some level that you stand out. Even when you try to blend with your environment, you often feel conspicuous, alien, and out-of-place.

And what where the odds that my daughter would be the same?

I ruin mine by using kangaroo mince, wallaby mince if in Tassie, then add liberal amounts of hot chilli sauce.

Funniest thing I heard on a cruise ship porting into Italy. Americans complaining because the pizza didn't taste like real pizza from home. (Thank God!)

I was on a conference call once and someone in Ohio was having spaghetti and red sauce.

Me (with italian parents): Whats red sauce?
Him: Ketchup

The silence in my aussie office was deafening, we just looked at each other, thinking WTF.

On the pizza topic. Pineapple on pizza is NEVER ok.

I find it an ironic twist. Yes, it is hardly a national issue that is important in the overall scheme of running a country. But to say, 10% of people who might go on to formalise their marriage, plus their families and friends, it is something that is fundamental to their lives. And that is a lot of people.

Have to book a night for hubby to do a night photography tour in the Blue Mountains/Katoomba.

What a disappointment the "hotels" are - all very motel like, unless you want to pay $500pn for Lilianfields.

Cant believe this is whats on offer for a world heritage site/the tourists.

What where?

You are right not to believe it, it is total rubbish.
The scary part is that people are so easily taken in by it.

The scary part is that is a very accurate description of me. Almost like someone had me in mind when they wrote it. Scary hey?

I think I was at the Socceroos last night. But had a few too many of these to be totally certain.IMAG2860.jpg

GarrettM I won't show this to Mrscove as she worries about youth and alcohol. Was blakinho enjoying the game from what you remember?

I vaguely recall him being reasonably pleased by the end of the game.
You can ease Mrscove's concerns by letting her know I was in bed by midnight, and I drank a lot of water. And my recovery today involves the Langham buffet.

Someone told me about some study where they gave a group of people the same horoscope. All thought the horoscope was about themselves despite all being born in different months.

The Langham buffet is my favourite in Melbourne GarrettM. Enjoy the post soccer game feed. Isn't it nice to be able to walk there?

Unfortunately the tourism sector in that region only cater to low to medium budget tourism. Then they think they have pricing power because they are an iconic destination without building appropriate infrastructure. While there is nothing wrong with that part of the market, I think the tourism industry as a whole needs to see that the market can be a lot larger if they cater to both ends of the market.

Packer has got it right in a way because he recognises that SYD cannot be an iconic destination if the high end is not catered for.

I don't disagree with you. I don't believe in horoscopes either but if you knew me well then you'd think those 3 paragraphs were an accurate description of me. Not sure you'd find all those traits in too many people.

And not to get too deep but for all we know this life may actually be a figment of my imagination. No real proof one way or the other against my theory.
