I was thinking the longer in the week it went, the more chance he would be found not guilty.

Im actually not that surprised to be honest and on what Ive read, if I was in the jury room, I would have said not guilty of murder as well.

Sometimes, really bad things happen to people that make dumb/bad choices and sadly that resulted in this womans death.

Yes, from all I have read I would have said not guilty for murder but whether of manslaughter is interesting given that people who do dumb things that result in the death of another have been found guilty in the past, thinking of silly young drivers for example who crash killing one of their mates. The jury must have decided that she made the decision and so she was responsible for her own death.

I can't believe it took so long to arrive at this decision. There was reasonable doubt about this from the beginning of the Crown's case.

Not guilty had to be the verdict in this instance

It earned the right to die in the ocean and not a boiling pot of hot water.

Different with this one because a reasonable person would not have tried to climb over the balcony after being locked out on the balcony.
Thats like saying a parent is responsible (manslaughter) for their teenager who was drunk and took the parent's car for a spin and wraps it around the pole and dies. Car keys on table. Parent should have foreseen the drunk teenager could have taken car???

Just now on the news, I heard a small part of a recording that he had made (I don't know why he was recording it), while she was there. She was saying, "no no no, no no no, just let me go home just let me go home". I have no idea what the context was but it was very chilling.

Someone that terrified, locked on a balcony and intoxicated. Trying to climb to safety was probably quite logical to her.

So who was it that said baby boomers don't have much of a work ethic.
Arrived at hospital 0400,left at 2000.36 hours into my 120 hour shift.

Just needed to vent.

Never heard it said that BBs have no work ethic - but certainly heard it said about (and certainly seen it in) subsequent generations...

Hopefully there was a spare bed at a couple of points...

Happy wandering

Well was a spare chair at a computer waiting for results and here you don't need to go through hoops to access AFF.

Both my sons have a good work ethic so I am very happy with them.
I am heading to Sydney and one of my sons is coming over on the red eye after he finishes work on Friday. He reckons he can sleep ok in the business class suite.

Embassy called wife this morning who then said better talk to my husband.

"When your daughter's citizenship is approved she cannot enter Australia on a tourist visa with Thai passport and you have to apply for an Australian passport."
Me: Yes I understand that and will apply for a passport once her citizenship has been approved. How long for citizenship to be approved?
"About 1 month for citizenship to be approved. When your daughter comes back from this trip you have to apply for passport for her."
Me: Yes I will apply for passport for her. Does this mean you will approve her tourist visa?
"We haven't decided yet. I will pass application to supervisor and we will make decision today."

What a confusing conversation. Think they will approve short term tourist visa for daughter but have to apply for passport for daughter later. VFS Global originally said 31 days for citizenship but a few days ago they said 10 days and were seriously trying to talk me out of applying for tourist visa for daughter. Very disappointing but think looks good.

Cleaned all the furniture out of mum's place today. Back tomorrow and over the weekend to clean up the junk and smaller things. And then vacuuming and mopping. Bugger anything else.
Paperwork almost all sorted and settlement still slated for November 1, although unofficially it may be a few days earlier to suit all parties.

Moved all of her stuff into the new parkhome, and am now paying site fees for that as well. Again back on the weekend to unpack that and get her on the way to sorted.

Tonight she is staying at my uncle's and saying goodbye to her little dog.

This time next week I'll be in Albany with the wife and child, hopefully with all of this behind us and we can focus on our future again.

Nobody. And nobody doubts that most work very hard. Just that the research shows the younger generations actually have just as good of a work ethic. :)
