We actually have flip phones ! OMG .... I know ! Our 7 year old grandson has a better phone than us ! He says " Nana is that your phone ? " I tell him yes, but he says where are your games/photos/stuff ???!!!!

So 2017 we must get into the new millenium and get a smart phone so please recommend a smart phone for a couple of old dummies

Try a Windows phone or one of the Nokia android phones.

I'm very happy with my Apple phone :)
Bu then we are all Apple in the household and most friends so it makes it very easy.

My wife likes her iphone 5, even though she breaks the screen every couple months. So not going to risk a newer phone.

But me... I was born an Android guy, and I will die an Android guy. Can't embrace Apple in any way.

I have never (touch wood) broken a phone screen. I do have a clear cover on it - a stick on one which is thicker than the usual offerings - and a silicone cover on the back. I don't like the kind of covers that you have to unfold or open. By the time I realise the phone is ringing and get the thing open, whoever it was has given up.

What is it with newer phones these days? Everyone seems to be walking around with a cracked screen; it's almost as if it's some sort of trend or fashion statement.

I think you can buy a pre cracked screen " screen cover" makes your phone looked hip??

I've never broken or lost a phone either. And I have a folding cover on mine. Since I NEVER answer a call unless I know who's on the line anyway, I'm not fussed if the delay in getting it out/open means I don't answer it in time.

I went for an iPhone (big screen) when my Samsung one went phut and stopped talking to my laptop, with the Samsung 'help' lot not having a clue. Quite happy with it, synchs well with my windows laptop, but I'm not going down the Apple path any further.

Many important calls have come through as 'unknown' recently. I wouldn't want to have missed them.

First thing I do with a new phone is buy those glass screen protector things.

And I dont carry my phone around like my life depended on it every day so its safely in my handbag when walking/driving.

Same here. Also with tablets. And I can then sell them in pristine condition.
