Cherry Harvest under way. Will be plenty for Christmas.

Favourite fruit is cherries. Currently $30 a kilo and sourced from interstate. SA producers haven't harvested yet but must be close. Very late this year.

Just wrapping up what will be another long week - on track for 90 hours this time! Roll on Christmas, looking forward to a few days off

Ordered our turkey & ham today..... so tonight the 24 year old oven decided its going to start playing up. Why can't I buy an under bench oven with separate grill??

The fan on mine stopped while baking the ham one Christmas! Thank goodness for large hooded BBQ with a full tank of gas.

I suspect the cool weather and rain has slowed down the harvest but will increase the yield.

There are a number of inexpensive Singapore hotels where you would feel right at home, as the beds are similarly encased

Went through a phase where I kept encountering those horrible plastic backed mattress covers in hotels (particularly in the NT and Outback, where there seems to be not a few people with... questionable showering habits and no belief in Rexona, shall we say, so I can kind of understand the hotelier's logic in placing them there, having a long family history in the business, but still...).
After one horrible sweat-soaked night after another, I started to remove them and re-make the bed before sleeping in it. I was stumped once though as the bloody plastic was actually sewed into the construction of the mattress itself, so instead I found all the spare blankets and remade the bed with several layers of wool blankets between me and the plastic.
I don't think I sweat excessively at night (not compared to some houseguests I've had!), so I don't know how anyone would willingly put up with that. Except if the room is rented on an hourly basis, I guess, but that's something I'll never know about.

Fares in the UK go up every year without fail.... if you look at the increase over the last 10 years it's much, much more than CPI for sure.
Most services go up more than CPI. I guess that's expected.

This particular change will hurt me as I was getting a good deal with the 9 trips and free for the rest of the week. Used to pay ~$25/week. Now first 8 trips are full price and the remainder are 50%. I do around 15 trips/week and at average ~$3/trip the increase for me is significant.

Love cherries; they are a bit late as I remember them being in season when we were in southern NSW on my honeymoon a few years ago :)
probably all the rain - we've been getting lovely cherries (both white and red), at the Epic markets but only in the last few weeks.

They had cherries back in those days? <ducks>

Your ears should have been burning tonight Dame. Nicely of course.
Are you at AFF Xmas do? Son has one and can show you - he is very happy with it.

I'm sorry I missed you tonight.

LL have a bookface post about a fire in the HK Airlines lounge, HKG.

I think the cherry season has been affected by the unseasonal rain; reports of lots of burst fruit hence the high prices.

Thought I had finished making bookings for 2016 with 37 FF family bookings an all time high.
Had today allowed 6 hours transit time in JFK from YYZ for daughter's flights home in SQ suites today. The north east weather proved 6 hours not enough with further delays on the YYZ tarmac ensuring the connection would not have been made. Luckily we made the call to not proceed on the DL flight with the deciding factor being able to book her home the next day on CX J direct via HKG.
Gotta love the FF points game with the only penalties for the cancelled flights being US$105 and return of all points.

They will miss you when you are gone DaveB.
One in my family came home on SQ and he had a fat guy ooze onto him in J. Apparently he snored and farted really well on the night flight to Perth from Singapore.
We may use Melbourne now that SQ Suites are back on.
