For a bit of variety what about this?
The 10 worst Christmas songs of all time - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Our local coffee shop was playing a dreadful saxophone version of some indeterminate carol yesterday.

Curious list. Have not heard of a couple of them but I dislike some of them too and they always have them on Carols by Candlelight. E.g. jingle bell rock. But this one is in Lampoon Christmas vacation so a winner but never considered it a Christmas Carol. Mele Kalikimaka. Little Donkey was played at every school nativity play coz someone had to be a donkey as everyone had to have a part.

I quite like some, well two, of them (Oh Christmas Tree though not the Aretha Franklin version, & Good K Wenceslas) but the others are not to my taste (and we all know I have excellent taste ).

My niece, who manages a booze store in a nicer than most area, tells me wine mums were knocking on the door two hours before opening today.

Family, kids, relatives and stress = need more booze.

I've always considered it a bona fide Carol - it's on just about every Bing Crosby Christmas compilation CD (one of which we're actually just playing as I write :) ). "Nat Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" will be our after dinner movie tonight.

Paid $25 for a kilo of cherries and they are really nice.

That's the cheapest here in Adelaide. Started at $29 kilo.

Ah. I'm not a Bing fan. Only time I've heard it was in the movie.
We usually watch Carols by candlelight tonight and Lampoons on Christmas night. The kids evacuate the premises.

One of the benefits in being "isolated" out in West Cork is the lack of people and crowds should I decide to pop into the local village  I'll see what Christmas cheer I can find later today ..... (bah humbug!)

Having forgotten that the white sugar was essentially gone from the cupboard, I braved the car park of the local IGA/cooperative car park which in true Christmas style was indeed overflowing...

In a related matter the local Coles had fresh cherries at $17. And there was a farmer selling local ones at a road rest stop as I returned from the IGA. I didn't check the price as we will have fresh mulberries from outside our door.

Happy wandering

Zero dollars a kilo for me... :D

Just over 3kg picked and still a couple kg on the tree.

Given I was a day ahead of myself this week...all I did today was walk around the street to have a coffee and bacon and egg roll and then home again! No shops, no driving, no crowds and best of all, no crazy Xmas people to deal with!

how much did your nets cost?

Half Price at Masters

But seriously probably costs all up ~$100, plant $30, nets $40-50, fertiliser etc. Will probably harvest about 10kg just this year, so at least $150 worth of fruit.

One of the main benefits is the ability to pick at full ripeness. Had some IGA and Coles cherries couple of weeks ago and both were average.

Due to the cold spring in Tasmania it has delayed bees pollinating flowers and a delay in ripening, their has been a shortage across in Australia with Tasmania needing to import cherries from Victoria for Christmas.

Well the verdict on West Cork is in. Just been to 3 sets of shops, easy to get a parking spot at each one and no queue at the checkout! Bliss.
