The totally off-topic thread

There was a bit of an underground thread questioning whether or not George Michael's death was a hoax, as he has been a victim of this previously.

However, with all the reports teeming out of the media, it seems this one is unfortunately for real. :( Just wish whatever sources would be more forthcoming with the reason for his "peaceful passing"; I realise that privacy is of utmost importance and that is even more pronounced during one's death, but the sketchy reporting around his death seems to unwittingly suggest circumstances more sinister than what has been stated.

I would guess George Michael with his recent absence either died of cancer and/or a virus.

My favourite George Michael song.

So many legends gone... But Tony Bennett still kicking at 90. A great then and to this day.

My husband just reminded me that Keith Woods is still alive as well.

Though some may be celebrating St.Stephen's day and others Boxing day sales it is the 12th Anniversary of the tsunami here in Thailand.

St Stephen's day here - off to the races soon, interesting concept whereby the town turns into a race track

I am aware of cheaper options re transport to SYDi and SYDd airports by public bus that takes a long time, and taxis with meters that shoot up in price like a rocket, BUT I miss the 350 Sydney Buses bus that went from Central to the airport.
If SIN Changi can do it cheap why cant SYD? The train fare itself is cheap, that gate access is certainly a money spinner for Airportlink. And indirectly the NSW govt.

I had a strange, Can I swap with you situation and blame AFF for my reacting (instantly thought of a seat swap situation).

Six of us lining up to play the bells at Perths Bell Tower.

Person 1.
Husband
Me
Person 2
And others.

Person 2 says to me, Excuse me. I would like to stand next to my brother.

Me: Sure. I'll swap with him and you two are together (no big deal to me, this isn't the Olympics), and I moved to her brother to swap places.

Person 2: No. I want to swap with your husband, I want that spot.

Me: So it's nothing to do with wanting to be with your brother, is it? It's about you thinking you have the better position or the biggest bell?

I guess I'm officially ready if anyone ever asks for a seat swap.

Denali we live a bit too far down the river to hear your bell ringing.

We sucked anyway. I'm guessing when these new hotels and apartments are built, the new locals will complain about the bell noise.

The best news is we are not on this list whatmeworry. This year we lost one out of our Christmas carol singing group and it wasn't till his funeral that I learned he delivered 20,000 babies. I knew he was doing lots of baby deliveries at all hours but that was amazing. He came to Perth on a 10 pound ship so we thought of him as a 10 pound Pom even though he was Irish.

Our dog Lola has gone missing and being in the States where I can't do anything is killing me.

Where in Aus? Have you tried posting on social media, I often share this sort of post for my Canberra networks just in case. People also hashtag local community groups and @ local news reporters to broaden the search.

Melbourne. I've posted on Facebook, local lost dog page, Instagram. She's very shy so could be hiding out but I'm hoping someone's taken her home waiting for the RSPCA to open.

Oh no BC, such a worry for you. Hope she turns up soon. Fingers and toes are crossed for you.
She may well be hiding somewhere. We lost our cat once when she was being cat sat. Was very sad as she just disappeared but when we drove up she came running, had been hiding under the house next door.
