The totally off-topic thread

My digital collection is growing as well. We got rid of all our CDs a while ago, but I would never part with my books.

My brother thought of throwing his CD collection, but I reminded him you can legally rip mp3s off your physical collections but you must keep your physical collection to avoid breaking any copyright laws by using your digital collection.

Don't use MP3, too stilted with no headroom. At least use FLAC. Plenty of free or cheap rippers.

Did I read correctly that the house will be going on the market in the not too distance future? Or have a good that totally a* about? (which is quite likely) :)

It was put on the market a week before Christmas and we were only told after the fact

I know you said that it would be sold at some stage but a pity you weren't involved in the discussions. It makes things very unsettled for everyone, not the least Lola and Miss Daisy.

Trust you to think of the bloody dogs!

We looked at a few houses today. The nicest one, which would require the least amount of immediate work, was the only one without aircon. Or solar panels.

And now bub has had a night spew for the second night in a row. Apparently this is something they do? At least she didn't get it all over me this time.

JessicaTam, perhaps I should dig out the turntable I bought in the 70s (or early 80s). At least the vinyl collection likely has little interest to my daughter who keeps saying she just bought another LP. While the receiver/amp and CD player are hooked up, I have no idea where I could add a turntable (and records) without a major furniture rearrangement.

We have a couple of split system inverters (and a wood heater), but the veranda on the north side of the house was by far a better investment. Alas winter with reduced sun is when we could use more units generated by the solar panels as even with ceiling fans, the wood heater isn't quite enough.

Happy wandering

Fred

Yes GarrettM kids do that. In a car it makes it a chuckmobile.
Fortunately that was not in a Lexus .....it was in a Toyota.....for us.
Thickshakes, milkshakes and ice cream tend to be a pretty good base for a child doing a projectile chunder.
There are many homes on the market right now so take your time and negotiate a hot deal as there are few buyers to compete with in the Perth real estate market.

The uncertainty is driving us nuts. On saturday it was "dont bother packing yet, it might not sell", and yesterday it was "start packing, if it doesnt sell by April it goes to auction". Its an added stress we dont need right now.

Just what you don't need. Not sure whether it would be better to have it sold and out of the way so you can make plans or not sell so that you have some time to sort things out. The constant being open for inspections used to drive me nuts (One weekend we flew to Auckland just to get away). When we sold the place in Melbourne I used to have to take the dog with me everywhere as he was a bit of a barker and growler and the agent felt he would put people off.
Hang in there - I'm a bit far to offer much practical help but let me know if there is anything you think I can help with.

Bolding mine. We'd do anything to justify a flight somewhere!

My big issue is the cat; she's deaf and lives inside, so having randoms coming in and out is not ideal. Plus the house isnt particularly tidy right now and Ive been clear that its not going to get any better...

I know what you mean. We were lucky last time we sold as we moved the ageing cat to our daughters as she wouldn't have coped well at all. (We didn't have any dogs by then).
