The totally off-topic thread

A bit offended? I would be mega p***ed off. You must be a very mild mannered young woman :)

Hedging my bets until it's all done and dusted. ;)

From drron's quote they have the right to ask for it but some don't exercise the right.

I'm betting the owner of the business who very much encouraged me to apply for it (same age) would be miffed as it was the office staff who made the request as she said she wasn't working yesterday. She did not say anything about bank statements at the time just proof of ID, references and proof of address. It will all unfold in time.

Agree, once the other place is sorted then a suitable response.
Did you end up with the second one - with the tenants who showed you round? Aircon and cute balcony?

Thoughts please. One of the Property Managers wants the most recent copy of our Bank Statement.

But I think requiring a copy of a tenants Bank Statement is a bridge too far.
.

I would photoshop it - add a few zeros, some random stuff ect

i would ask for their document handling procedures to ensure that only those who must know have access and I would also ask about their method of destruction.

i would be mainly concerned about identity theft as I assume they already have most other requirement.

They do. Passport. Drivers license. Medicare card. Plus contact details of referees. Silly thing is they didn't specify which account. I could send them our SMSF super fund HI account I guess. If in the unusual event I had to send them the details I was going to black out all identifying details.

I really think it's one of the clerical people gone gang busters while boss is away.

What assumptions?
I merely asked a question, something you have tried to evade answering.
Who said anything about retirement? Or time with children?
And I'm still glad I don't pay your wages.
Which question? That I'm not a good father or that I post more than others?

It's very difficult to describe my job. I fix bugs in computer software. I don't find/fix all of the bugs but I get most of them. Probably 80%-90% or higher. You are not going to get much better in the industry. I am about as good as you will find. Some bugs have been through 4-5 people and the team lead gives to me as a last resort and she is surprised that I can solve even months after the bug first presented.

Why?

Because I am good at what I do. I am passionate about my job but you need to understand that you can't work all the time. I look at patterns in data to try and work out what happened to a particular line of code. You can sit at your desk but you won't be working on solving the problem every minute. Distractions are good. Think of golf. Think of next trip. Post on AFF. And then presto the answer comes to mind and you then try and simulate the scenario. Sometimes the answer comes during dinner at home. Sometimes when you wake up in the morning.

The end result is all that matters.

But by all means don't pay my wages. Hire the person who looks like they are busy all day but in actual fact they call on 5-6 people each day for help and solve maybe 1 in 3-4 issues they receive and even then every 2nd or 3rd fix needs rework as it has stuffed something else.

The most common comment I come across on bug jobs is "closing job as unable to reproduce" but I'm not the one posting the comment.

Actually I think the worst kind of bug is the intermittent type where it only throws up when a series of seemingly unrelated elements line up. Anyone who can fix that gets my admiration :)

Like our air cond that performed perfectly after we called the technicians.

Request for latest bank statement in tenancy applications is standard in NSW.

I have never been bothered about providing it TBH as I just provide my bill payment account and not my fun money account!

I am pretty sure Dr FM has had to provide bank statements when renting in Sydney - I thought it was a bit outrageous, but then it must be nearly 40 year since I applied to rent a property - it was much easier then!

On another subject the 3 month old baby in Melbourne has now died -so sad :(

They are my favourites. ;) The bigger the challenge the bigger the enjoyment.

Ok JohnK post number 59216 was the question and the observation I made (as someone who employs people) so if you're offended by that, I apologise unreservedly. But it's still a fair question.
