My randoms from Hamilton Island.

They were the most gorgeous couple. Their camera wasn't working properly. A couple of days later I met up with them again on Whitehaven Beach and they insisted that each of them have a photo taken with me. They probably posted it on a Japanese forum saying what a nice little old lady they met in Australia.

See, that was what I thought when I asked if it had not been possible for the car to have been blocked at Flinders St. Though maybe if he had a gun he could have started shooting.
The police are between a rock and a hard place in these things. How many times have they been attacked by the press when someone gets injured during a police chase? They had been following the car but but drew back when it entered crowded areas and then surveilled by air. In hindsight once the erratic behaviour in the city started they should have moved in, but really prior to yesterday, would you have expected anyone to do anything like that?

I am more cranky with the magistrate letting him out on bail. Mental health issues, drug use and increasing violence and nothing gets done? Once again no one would expect this, but I would have thought serious domestic violence should absolutely been anticipated (and in fact did happen).

A small town in the Czech Republic a few years ago.

probably got heaps more that I've forgotten about. :)

A few more and the town was Ceske Budejovice, we also did the brewery tour.

Erika gets a bit embarrassed sometimes, but after using film for a lot of my travels and having missed many shots, now I think digital film is cheap, too many is never enough!

Thoughts please. One of the Property Managers wants the most recent copy of our Bank Statement. This is the first application we submitted but have been accepted for the second property anyway so it's likely a moot point.

But I think requiring a copy of a tenants Bank Statement is a bridge too far. They have our accountant and lawyer details.

Curious to know other people's thoughts. I'm also a landlord and would not ever require the PM to get this.

Sounds very odd to me. We never required bank statements from our tenants when we had property and they should have enough with the details you have given them. I would think that once you have finalised the lease for the second property a well worded email back to the first agent pointing out that this is highly irregular in your experience as a business owner and landlord. And then no longer interested in the property as have chosen one that suits you better :)

From memory the only time I have had to provide a bank statement was 20+ years ago to prove we had enough money to visit France.

Interesting that Jumeirah Beach Resorts in Dubai are open to celebrating both Christmas and Chinese New Year. Guess Chanukah slipped off the radar :o

What assumptions?
I merely asked a question, something you have tried to evade answering.
Who said anything about retirement? Or time with children?
And I'm still glad I don't pay your wages.

What's my posting rate got to do with retiring and spending quality time with my daughter?

My work gets done. Would it help if you knew that I do 25%-50% more work than most staff in our office, sometimes more, but they get paid as much as I do if not more? I have 30+ years experience in RPG and AS400 all in Australia. Most of them don't have half that experience.

Any other assumptions you'd like to share?

Seems most unusual and frankly unacceptable. They have no right to ask for bank statements. If they have a concern after speaking to your accountant or lawyer, and checking previous references, there are credit check agencies for such.

Maybe a case if I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

I was a bit offended to be honest.

Beautiful wedding, wonderful hosts, food coma.

I wonder if they rent the bridal sari because I hate to think how much it cost and only worn once.

It may be unacceptable - but with the competition for Melbourne rentals if you don't want to comply they can just move on to the next person. I guess the agent wonders why bother speaking to an accountant or lawyer when they could just ask for a statement?

With 30% of adult Australians unable to borrow a cent from a bank it makes you realize how lucky you are if you can borrow.

Maybe we lucked out getting the first place we applied for. The first one we saw the other day was a zoo of people but a shoe box.

We just refinanced our investment loans. Now with one of the big four. The day of settlement we received in the mail a letter from the original provider who advised of an interest rate increase. They are already .5% higher than our new loans. Good timing. They did the dirty on us originally by discussing a five year fixed loan and I have 3 and 5 years in the consultants notes. And we had settled on 5 years then revert to variable. But on the day of signing the document was for 10 year fixed loan and we trusted them and just signed all the reams of paper. Interest rates back then were well over 7% but the early payout fee was around $50k penalty.

Never trust the verbal discussion.

Watching this video of yesterday's tragedy I just have to wonder, if the police were following him, then where were they? So many donuts near Flinders Street and nothing done?

They had a helicopter overhead. From the other angles I could see at least 1 undercover grey commodore on Flinders st on the west side.

I am surprised there was no uniformed Police in the vicinity considering it is probably one of the most visible intersections in Melbourne.

When to back off and when to intercept has become such a grey area for police. The trouble is many offenders now speed off, believing the more recklessly they drive the less likely they are to be chased.
To speed through the city chasing a dangerous, erratic driver would increase the risk. No one, perhaps not even the driver, knew until the last second, he would turn into the mall determined, it seems, to kill.
In a remarkably similar case more than 10 years ago, the Special Operations Group, intercepted a drug-affected armed murder suspect in South Melbourne.
He was shot dead and subsequently the police involved were criticised by the coroner, with the details sent to the Director of Pubic Prosecutions to see if they should be charged with criminal offences.
The then head of the Special Operations Group, John Noonan, was outraged saying, "They [the four police who fired shots] should have been given medals, not criticism."
And then there is the issue of violent mental illnesses. One policeman said the decision to close asylums has left a gap where violent mental illness becomes a criminal justice issue. "We are left to pick up the pieces."

Bourke Street tragedy: Melbourne is shocked and broken, but the city will be the same again
