Very Long way to SCL. All on one PNR?

Yep. Could have flown SYD - AKL -SCL for the same money but this way, we're hitting the US on the way home.

Were the only people having to pay $117 for the reciprocal fee this morning.

Just got back from the airport, where we bought a sim card. Was people watching and sitting outside and got talking to one of the transport guys here. He was raised in Sydney and Perth and moved here when he married. His parents still live in Perth.

It has gone 3 years since we did some large solar systems at work and home. The results have been excellent. The payback is growing in States where electricity prices have gone up. At work we are wholesalers and we mostly work sunlight hours. The payback dropped below 3 years so we have really small electricity bills now even though we now use rechargeable electric stock chasers for order picking and packaging machinery.

Unfortunately for us our roof faces heading 030. So most of the "peak" electrons generated will be 9-1. I have investigated moving some of the load (pool pump, dishwasher, clothes washer) to this period. Additionally the tariff during this period is classed as a "shoulder period". (Peak is 2pm to 8pm)

The solar guy says I could increase the number of panels to match the same output of a heading 000 system but the output will still be 0900-1300 hrs.

Most of our demand is 1700 onwards which is useless as the sun don't shine after 5 for most of the year.

We have tracked our hourly usage with a current sensor on all 3 phases using a Hall effect loop. I think everyone should understand what their normal usage is hour by hour so they are more informed when they look at a solar option.

We invested a bit less than $300,000 about 3 years ago on 7 systems across Australia and the one in SA has been the biggest winner due to the pricing of electricity. All the systems have produced great results for our circumstances and we don't draw about 210 kilowatts out of the grids.

About70 % to 75% is used. On the weekend after the battery/electric vehicles are recharged the rest currently goes into the grid. This will change if battery storage like Powerwall 2 or equivalent gets legs and the pricing drops.
We wouldn't go for this until the payback is about 4 years.

So the cheapest and simplest system would be one which is always less than demand.
There is some merit to the view that solar panels should not necessarily be limited to heading 000 depending on the load. For example if there is significant demand between 2-5 pm then a west facing system may be cheaper (even if it requires more panels) than a traditional north facing solar system with a time shifted supply (battery)

We sell about 80% of our generation and will continue to do so until the FIT well runs dry in June 2028

Met and had a drink with Roo Flyer yesterday... Today I get to kick his seat and steal his overhead space :)

They probably do, but while they are channel surfing those in J PJs will be sneaking off and using the F PJ's toilet.
You have no idea how close to the truth that is - daughter in J pjs, seems to prefer our ensuite to her own bathroom. Our house is tee shaped, bathrooms at either end, living in the centre, but for some reason our bathroom is closer. (but perhaps it may have something to do with the frog that likes to stay in her bathroom.)

Bordering on TMI here I would suggest! :)
