You've not heard of 'Dog in the Manger' attitude?
Clearly us RAdelaideans have a proppa English edification ;)

I left when I was 4, so missed out on a proper edumacation.... Though 58 years later I still consider myself to be South Australian... :)

Anyone the expression "dog in the manger"? It was the answer to a crossword clue the other day, I don't recall ever hearing it?
That would be the Canberra Times quick crossword perhaps? Luckily I knew the phrase :)
I like the cryptic ones but they take me ages.

Which reminds me, should post in the medical thread probably, but how's the recovery from the ladder going?

It was the SMH from last Wednesday, can't do cryptics, although I wish I could! Off to the fracture clinic at the end of the week, so far, so good!

Ironically, just before it happened, the boss said to me, "I'm so glad to see you actually doing something", so it's all her fault. :)

Thursday in the SMH and the Age the cryptic crossword author is usually NS. She is the easiest one (I have found anyway) if you want to give a cryptic crossword a go.

To do some really easy cryptics, dare I say it, the Women's Weekly used to be really good - lots of anagrams and pretty obvious clues. I started out on them some years ago and managed to learn some of the ways the creators use.

Today's Canberra Times crosswords were pretty easy.

I'd lost ~2kg in ~4 hours yesterday and in that time consumed ~2L of fluids. You just don't realise how much you sweat in the tropics.

Just stayed at the Park Royal at Melbourne Airport - room was really nicely done and seemed quite new. ONE power point by the bed that the clock was plugged into and if you want to plug your phone in then the power point is so close to the floor the plug won't reach and even if you could plug it in then no clock grrrr

Hotels - lots of plugs by the bed please (and ones that you don't need to get on your hands and knees to access)

Ha. That's MrP's pet peeve with that place too. Other Socket near the door on the floor.

But could you fill the kettle up easily?

But could you fill the kettle up easily?

why would I need a kettle - I don't drink tea or coffee and there was a bar :) albeit with outrageous prices and a credit card surcharge even on Visa - Pet Peeve #9

I now have 8 of the Tumi amenity bags. I will have to give some away when we get home.

Hello from Atlanta

One thing I take with me for travelling is a powerboard.

One thing I take with me for travelling is a powerboard.

I often do too but I was there for one night and I think the powerboard that I normally take wouldn't have fitted in there because it was so low to the ground. Also - I'm paying $300 a night for a room I shouldn't have to take a powerboard

Hubby fell yesterday and Sprained his wrist.

First time ever we did the pre board for extra time, I had to take his bag and put his seat belt on,even cut his dinner, takes his socks and shoes off/on for him.

Pre board is also awesome! All that extra time to get settled.

His wrist is already better at 24hrs so time and rest.

That didn't sound good for MrDenali :( Glad the wrist is much better though and that the pre-board worked well.

Not good, hope it isn't a scaphoid injury!

Thankyou, I'll give it a go this week.

I do like David Astle, obviously I have no chance of doing his cryptics, like a lot of people I find the DA stands for "Don't Attempt"!, but quite often his quick crosswords have fairly basic cyptic clues which can be fun.
