J-walking in the U.K. and USA is basically a national sport. You expect it. Tourists are obvious as they wait for the signal.

However you come to Germany, and people will wait for the green man (or Ampelmann, lol).

Speaking of which it's amazing how that has become a cult trademark.

Mrs GPH has the T shirt and other Ampelmann paraphernalia from her Berlin trip a few years back

That's a lot of rain that has fallen in Milton overnight. The leaks in our second floor apartment have appeared again.

Lots of happy kids in QLD today - all schools closed from Agnes Water (Central QLD) to NSW border.... Police are asking that businesses send workers home at midday.

I had just dropped all the kids off at school and gotten home when the alert came through. It is now exactly 2 hours later and I have just gotten home. We live 4km from the cbd where their schools are :(

Bugger! Not an ABC radio listener ?

Does microwaving a pie kill off the bacteria that develop?
Presumably any such development would be before being frozen.

Straight from deep freezer to microwave; which you do in the bag after opening one end. The bag has a metallic element that assists with the heating.

Comes out far to hot to eat (or for any bacterial development).

Need to let em cool down for 20 minutes ...

Tim Flannery:
We’re already seeing the initial impacts and they include a decline in the winter rainfall zone across southern Australia, which is clearly an impact of climate change, but also a decrease in run-off. Although we’re getting say a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas of Australia, that’s translating to a 60 per cent decrease in the run-off into the dams and rivers. That’s because the soil is warmer because of global warming and the plants are under more stress and therefore using more moisture. So even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Brisbane airport shows as having 60mm till 9am.
Unfortunately the puddles outside my apartment and on the roads don't take any notice of rainfall gauges.

I walked ~300m from apartment to train station with umbrella and got soaked below the waist then walked ~3 metres from undercover to opened train doors without putting up umbrella and now the rest of my body is well and truly soaked.

Now sitting at a freezing desk hoping I am imagining the pains around my lower back and ribs and I don't get sick again. Still not recovered from last 2-3 viruses.

Look on the positive side! :) Businesses are told to close at midday and public transport is free after 10 am!

Bugger! Not an ABC radio listener ?

Spencer Howson tweeted it first then all the news people went into panic mode (including ABC). Listened to ABC radio for 30+ years and Steve Austin stopped me listening to each segment as he moved around. I like my talk back to be balanced and fact based not the radicals who blindly ignore reality and spew out whatever garbage they want. Spencer Howson and Madonna King were two of the best I have ever heard. I was starting to go back to ABC when he left. Just couldn't risk another bout of Steve Austin.

What if the bright side is not that bright?

Public transport was free before 10:00am which is good and I'm now not as soaked as I was 1 hour ago. Management is monitoring the situation.

Interesting to see any disruptions to flights tomorrow.

Bunnings poncho. Great $2 investment. We dont even bother with raincoats/jackets anymore, just throw a couple of Bunnings ponchos in our check in luggage and car.

I also swear by Betadine mouth gargle, never go anywhere without it: https://betadine.com.au/products/sore-throat/sore-throat-gargle/

Nothing to get excited about yet. My weather station in Ashgrove says 96mm today till 10 am. Highest Hourly Rain 31mm @ 9:24. Highest Rain Rate 85mm/hr @ 8:30 am.

We have just recorded 103 mm rain in the last 24 hours at Windaroo
