Telstra tinkering outside our footpath/in the line pit at 3.45pm, he leaves about 4.15pm, after putting up fencing around the pit area.

Now we have no internet/phone line.

Doubt we will see him back until next week.

Mate who is a Telstra Tech tells me he wouldn't even bother opening a job that late on a Friday.

Dont know what time he started but hubby noticed/heard him at 3.45pm but they were not there approx 1pm.

Tech cant return until Monday... if that. Not. Holding. My. Breath.

Mate looses tablet, cancels sim and reorganises contact for new tablet at better rate, no pay out contract fee. Real estate agent finds tablet in a rented property??? It is retuned to mate.
Is there a cooling off period for new tablet to return and go back to old tablet plan?

Husband just phoned, saying hes now painting the rear steps and "in case the paint doesnt dry, Ive set up the ladder over the hedges and through one of the front windows into the house".

Yeah. Im suppose to get my fat butt up a step ladder, over a hedge, through the front window and army commando roll over the couch and into the living room, hopefully without injury.

Im happy here in the office.

What numpty in the ATO thinks its a good idea to take down the ATO business portal on the very day that BAS can be lodged. Their reasoning? Well, over the weekend we thought it would be more convenient. Seriously, only in Public Service land do they take the weekends off. Over the weekend is where many small business have to do non-core work. And why not last week when nothing was due?

My plans to get the BAS lodged before an OS trip have been thwarted.

What happens if you were to mail it in? Do they consider the date of lodgement equal to the day it is lodged at the post office, or the day it is received by the ATO?

In French class this morning, we had to explain to our French teacher that "bureaucrat" is not a general description of a position, but rather a derogatory term. Luckily, she said it is the same in France, too.

They stop mailing the forms as soon as you use the online portal so I'm kinda stuck. Hopefully it is all over and done with Monday but then I just know that there will be issues given its apparently a hardware overhaul. I have written a complaint letter once when Frydenburg was Junior Treasurer and boy, I got so many phone calls from the ATO that week just making sure I was ok. Clearly writing to the Minister makes a whole lotta people jump.

Given the reputation of contempt within the current cabinet, I'm quite surprised you managed to get something to shake from within.

Oh, we live in a wonderful democracy........

When I changed laptops, I had to get a new AusKey, and that was the week the system went down ( or one of the weeks) . I managed to show them, once I'd consumed about half a year of business help line time, that there was actually a circularity of links involved in that process. Got me an extension though :)

Foot massage as well? Have fun!

Just had a welcoming foot massage. :)

We were a little early to check in at the Sofitel in Luang Prabang, so we wandered a bit and went into the local UXO office and watched a couple of films.
It's almost surreal to see what ordinary Lao people have to cope with, whilst we are staying in a former Governor's residence complete with internal and external baths!

There are whole areas in government departments devoted to "ministerials", as they are called, not imo a good place to work.

A friend used to have to deal with "ministerials" for a former minister for aged care that liked helicopter flights, she (the minister) would have an open bottle of white wine on her desk at 9am and it was being consumed that early.

Most government departments do (or they used to) major software and hardware upgrades over a weekend, figuring it would impact fewer customers, guess they didn't take the BAS date into account.

I have my AUSkey on a removable drive, to avoid that problem......

i was going overseas some years ago on an extended trip and wanted to get the BAS done before I went and paid, as I would be coming back 2 weeks after the payment date. The way our business ran I was able to fill in and calculate moneys due from about the 15th onwards. This was pre being able to do it online, so I phoned up and asked if the form could be sent out a bit early. Had this entirely frustrating conversation which pretty much was no they couldn't send one out and in any case you couldn't fill it in that much before the end of the period. I then asked if I could have an extension so I could pay when I came back and it was no that wasn't allowed either get someone else to do it. When I explained that I was the only person in the business who could do it, she pretty much told me her parents were small busines people as well and they managed to cope so I should too! She told me to go away and be prepared to pay penalties!

Ironically the form actually turned up the day before we were due to leave, so all was well, but I was left amazed at how badly they treated someone who was just trying to do the right thing!

So it's over for another six months.

Daylight savings that is.

Now to change all the manual clocks in the place. No wonder I'm ticked off!

Wow Perth has almost caught up to you folks with your time reversal overnight. Don't forget us.....we are temporarily funding your part of the country with many billions of our GST revenues we pay.It may add up to 30 billion dollars this decade so we will be wanting that money back with interest.

Have ordered an Infinity Riage massage chair thru Costco Culver City. I tried it twice and my lower back pain was massaged out. The unit coming is a plug and play 240 volt 50 cycle model so I won't need a step down adaptor.

Sounds wonderful.

I'm going to join Costco when the nearby one is opened because I'm not going to Auburn to shop at Costco.
