Well I've learnt something about certain Asian airports and liquid rules ... it seems to be optional to take the baggie out of your bag. No signs up asking for them to be removed, and leaving them in doesn't cause any issue. Makes the whole security checkpoint drill much easier.
I have not removed my clear zip-lock bag of nasties at any airport quite some time, including BNE and SYD international terminals, SIN, KUL, BKK and HKG. I always pack the nasties in the clear zip-lock bag and leave it easily accessible in my carry-on bag, but I have not had a screener stop my bag to have it removed and put through separately. But I did have them find a half-finished bottle of water I had forgotten I left in my back-pack from the previous day in Hong Kong .

I forgot the zip-lock bag in my carry-on a number of times during the last trip to Asia and was never questioned or pulled aside.

Now if only they could get some consistancy with the metal detectors. Why my belt has set off two machines, but not the countless others (even in the same airports) has me wondering - although it is a common issue.
Don't they tweak the sensitivity settings? The medicine (most have foil) in my pocket sometimes triggers the metal detector and sometimes it does not. My shoes have been known to trigger the metal detector sometimes (so in Australia I always take them off now) while my belt hardly ever triggers the metal detector.

I try not to fly in clothes I know will trigger the detectors. And I’d guess the different sensitivities are just a sign that the system isn’t perfect.

Came back through BNE in Jan and the screener threw my bag off the xray belt onto the floor behind him because I had forgotten to get the bag of toiletries out. I then got the full treatment, liquid bag checked then explosive check. I had to stop myself from abusing the screener for throwing my bag on the floor. If it did have explosive liquids, it may have gone off. What did he think was in my bag? a 90ml deodorant can and a tube of toothpaste. What an idiot!

I have an issue with anyone throwing my property on the ground and probably would have reacted badly, but with all their security cameras, had anything broken it’d be easy to prove who the culprit was ;)

My AFF Gold membership finishes soon; so I cleared out some of the PMs; I forgot how many PMs you can store as a non Gold member.

How long will I last until I get fed up with ads and pay the membership fee for another year.

And post 900, and 950 on FT I will reach 1,000 posts on each by the 4 Jan 2011(10 years on FT); so will have to pace myself.

You could always get Silver membership, presuming you don’t use any of the other special offers, and I know you’re QC life so you don’t need corporate membership, so Silver seems perfect for you.

I’m getting close to 2k on here. Think I’m about 25 on FT, or maybe I’d be lucky if I had that many posts ;)

As a normal AFF member (not sure the word normal is the right word, perhaps ordinary is a better word) you are allowed to store 25 PMs, need to wait 30 seconds between sending PMs and cannot send more than 5 PMs in any 15 minute period. How do I know? ;)

You could always post your 2,000th post in the 2,000 Post Club thread. ;)

My advice? Just pay for the membership. :)

What

No posts on this thread for over 30 hours. What are we all doing, replying to seriuous stuff

Well one explanation may be that people are starting numerous topics of varying potential ultimate lengths, since there is no incentive to boost TOTT anymore in it having surpassed the infamous Amex thread.

We could start a forum game here, but they don't last long. (My survey series of posts had an OK run...)

We could start a forum game here, but they don't last long or are really dumb (like FT OMNI dumb - e.g. the  thread, count to 100,000, post related to the last post stuff, etc.). (My survey series of posts had an OK run...)
