For a bit of fun!

We are cleaning out my late Mother-in-Laws' house and my wife found the salt cellar pictured below. She thought it was an old airline one - it is plastic and 2.4 cm tall - but couldn't recognise the logo. I found the airline fairly quickly - only because I knew of my Mother-in-Laws' history.

So, what airline did this come from? As a clue, this particular airline is long defunct. Actually, knowing the wealth of knowledge on this site, the first person to have a close look will probably know the answer!

I'm going to need a clue on the shaker.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy today, cute and fun movie. I didn't get the $24 sundae.

The airline disappeared in the early 1970's. It was created by amalgamating a couple of an older airlines & only lasted about 8 years. It was flying 707s', 737s', F27s' & Islanders when it disappeared and was not an Australasian or European airline.

Good call on the sundae.

Interesting back story of Macron and his wife Briggitte. She was his married teacher and her daughter was in his class when he declared at 15 years of age he would marry her! She is 25 years his senior. Only in France!

Nearly the reverse ages of Trump and Melanie.

Another clue.

This airline disappeared because of a ongoing less than amicable break-up.

!
Was it MSA?

We have a winner!

My wife remembers her mother flying to Singapore in about 1969, which would be the right time to souvenir this salt cellar. Their livery seems to have been very plain compared to the two successors attempts - even though the Comet 4 looks ok. The placing of the Singapore & Malaysian flags alongside each other looks a touch odd considering the tense relationship between the two states for most of the last 52 years.

Another PR Disaster For United Airlines!

Simon the giant rabbit, destined to be world's biggest, dies on United Airlines flight.

Scandal-hit United Airlines is facing a new PR disaster — after a valuable giant rabbit died mysteriously on one of its planes.

Three-foot Simon, destined to be the world’s biggest bunny, died in the cargo section of a Boeing 767 after flying out of Heathrow to a new celebrity owner in the US.

Breeder Annette Edwards, of Stoulton, Worcs, said: “He was fit as a fiddle. I’ve sent rabbits round the world, nothing like this happened.” United’s reputation is at rock bottom after film of a doctor being dragged from a jet went viral.
Edwards, 65, said 3ft Simon, expected to grow to be the world’s biggest rabbit, and was healthy when placed in the cargo hold.
But Simon, heading to a new celebrity owner in the US, was found dead after the Boeing 767-300 landed at O’Hare — the airport where a doctor was violently dragged off a UA plane.

Annette said: “Simon had a vet’s check-up three hours before the flight and was fit as a fiddle.
“Something very strange has happened and I want to know what. I’ve sent rabbits all around the world and nothing like this has happened before."

Annette, of Stoulton, Worcs, added: “The client who bought Simon is very famous. He’s upset.”

United Airlines is still reeling from the global outrage after security guards were filmed violently dragging Dr Dao, 69, off an overbooked flight at O’Hare two weeks ago.
He refused to give up his seat and suffered a broken nose, concussion and lost two teeth when removed.
An airport source said news of Simon’s demise sparked a panic among UA staff, adding: “After the viral video no-one wanted responsibility for killing what was to be the world’s biggest rabbit.”

The airline now faces a legal claim from the Simon’s new owner and former Playboy model Annette, who once had plastic surgery to look like cartoon character Jessica Rabbit.
Simon, a continental giant rabbit, was 10 months old. He was on track to out-grow 4ft 4in dad Darius, the world’s biggest rabbit.
Continental giants cost £5,000 a year to keep. Annette’s rabbits are hired out at £500 a time.
United Airlines said: “We are reviewing this matter.”

As for ice in wine, it is something that may horrify many wine drinkers, but it is a practice, probably more particularly amongst cultures who want to drink wine but the climate is too hot, there isn't a fridge handy or the ice bucket / ice with water bucket / ice with salt water bucket is not available. The main idea, of course, is that one attempts to not put too much ice in the wine nor let it melt too fast to dilute it (although because the melted ice intermixes with the physical character of the wine, there is some loss there, unless you're merely quaffing for quaffing sake). Also, when wine is mixed in a drink, like a spritzer, it has ice normally added to it (but at least now the wine is mixed so we're already moved right past "purity").

Oh, like QLD?? :p:lol:;)

Well my mother prefers a cold glass in which my father should be pouring her wine, but if he's forgotten, sometimes a sliver of ice prevails.

I'm not a white wine drinker. No ice in my reds

Hi well done. but I forgot to ask if you had a vague idea from their logo or was it the "less than amicable break-up" clue that gave you the answer? I certainly knew of MSA but would not have recognised the logo without the context of where it was found.

And in Africa on our recent trip white wine was often served with a glass of ice on the side.
