Experiences rather than presents.

How about taking her to high tea?
If it was in a city maybe but not in Leongatha where she lives and she doesn't travel now. :(

What about old photos put on a usb/frame thingy that scrolls - lots and lots of photos from multiple generations.

Newspaper from her birthday, corny but you can read them with her.

Experience. Driver pick up and high tea for her and a couple of friends and yourself/family.

Or some really, really nice new bedding.

I am looking through the photos and newspapers. I have a lot of PDF files with her mentioned as a young girl and also the article on her marriage but unfortunately the scans are not good enough to print - though I might be able to do something with them. Her marriage certificate is available on line but not her birth one unfortunately as I could have used it with some photos etc.

Bedding would be lovely but she just bought herself a new doona etc the other week :(

I have been toying with some kind of timeline thingy but will depend on what info I can draw on.

Was too hot to walk! Just gridlock for traffic. Lots of roads closed for changing of the guards and queen going to St Paul's, plus Chelsea Flowe show crowds...
Ah yes, I have a friend in London this week for the flower show.
It is a heat wave there? Can't imagine it being hot; the last few times it's only reached about 23C when we've been there.
It sounds like an experience then :)

Any view of London from a high vantage point and in any one direction one can count at least 48 cranes.

What about a large painting or photo from where she's from, if she has good feelings about it that is.

One year I did a framing course and got some original photos of my mums birth place. She still talks about it

Ok, time to pick the brains out there. My mother is turning 95 in August and we are stumped for ideas for a suitable gift. I did the family tree for her 90th, so that's out, and she is gradually getting rid of things around the house (she says, so we won't have to worry about it later). While I was there last week I boxed up several tea sets etc that she wants to go to specific family members. She doesn't garden now or do much sewing so things to do with them are probably out as well. There is nothing she really needs so it's very difficult.
Any thoughts? All ideas gratefully received. :)

Maybe do a photo collage using the Big W online system-the various times we have done it for birthdays or for house decorations of holiday snaps it has worked out OK

No status with Brussels Airlines, so no lounge access, but Oporto airport has live music. If was later in the day, I would enjoy a couple beers followed by some port. I'll have to settle for some coffee and a tart.....

I have had similar-ish issues, thought not losing my seat preference and +1 keeping his. I suspect your situation, similar to ours, is exacerbated by the alphabetical order of your surnames. I believe that's why my +1 sometimes get priorities and gets turned into the primary person on bookings, even when I've put myself down. I've also had some seat assignments put him with the kidlet, but not me - fair enough, they have the same surname.

I am less certain about Hilton and Hyatt reservations being alphabetical; I suspect adding a Mr to the booking there truly does affect their prioritisation, and I've had bookings change into his name after adding his name at checkin. I no longer add h is name to reservations, and it's been fine since.

Adding - have just read TV's comment that QF have admitted defaulting to males.

Opposite at Hilton for me, if I add the Mrs name to the booking when we check in they direct questions to her. Her first name is alphabetically later than mine...

Umm, 23 or so. Warmish for London but not that bad really. Was 24 in Edinburgh today. Lovely.

It felt like 27+ at the Chelsea Flower Show in the sun. We actually used some sun cream. Lots of shade so the location works out very well.
I was impressed with this show and there are so many plants we don't have in Australia.
The bug catching plants were my favourite as the range was so large.
Mrscove saw the incredible difference in plants when we compare it with Perth.

cove, of course it's forecast to rain this weekend. Classic UK bank holiday long weekend weather. Just as well we're escaping!

The boss does mine, can't remember the last time I paid.

hmmmm, sitting outside at a restaurant in Porto, a couple stop and ask if I was at the last running of Rally New Zealand 5 years ago. I can't say I recognised them, but it is not that unusual. Rally Portugal had just been run and you do bump into others occasionally all over the world. I said, yes I was there, they were on the same tour as me, although not on the same bus. I asked "what made you recognise me"?

Answer was, "your hair"! Perhaps time to visit a salon........ :)
