I just wear jeans to work, then I dont need to worry about stockings or tights....

Well not really. They are warmer than stockings.

Still irrelevant - blokes don't get cold as much because 1)blokes tend not to get cold, 2) blokes tend not need/require to be fashionable, which leads to 3) blokes tend to wear practical stuff like long trousers and normal socks.

Me too, next 2 nights at Parkroyal Darling Harbour. (Vivid, Titanic exhibition, Elvis, Sherlock @ Powerhouse.)

snap - well sort of . We are staying at the Westin. Had a wonderful 4 hours walking around Vivid last night - Botanic gardens were particularly beautiful this year. Today is shopping and then taking Dr FM to dinner at the Bridge Room for her birthday.

apparently it was state of origin last night? Whatever the reason crowds were very subdued the whole evening, which made for a good experience. We caught the train to Milson's point, walked across the bridge and then around.

Also, here's a couple of questions for the females on the forum here:
1) Stockings - in cold weather, are they any better than just wearing socks*? Or do they have nearly no effect?
2) If stockings are undesirable when they develop a tear or ladder, why don't they manufacture a better and more resistant stocking? From what I can tell, stockings are sold more or less like chewing gum, and last just as long.

* Just realised my mistake - most office outfits for women don't involve socks (only school uniforms). Oops.

IMNSHO, tights are warmer than stockings in cold weather. Stockings don't provide warmth, but may provide the right kind of foot cover for the shoes you are wearing (I wear very few shoes without stockings or socks of some kind). They may also provide some slight assistance if you are not a women with thigh gap (think chafing).

There are stockings that last longer - they often cost more. And some are so sturdy, one's grandmother might want to borrow them.
