When dropping our key off at about 10:00, we mentioned the earthquake to those behind the desk, none of them had noticed it, checked on the web and were surprised.

I experienced one a long time ago in a YHA in Tokyo, it was quite a way up in a high rise, that from memory was far more worrying, the building really swayed.

RE: CPA

The Naked CEO got caught with his pants down?

FWIW, I think it's actually a non-story. Like so many QANGOs, unions and industry groups, the board may have become a little disconnected from their paying members, and spent too much time paying themselves. Of course the counter argument is that exec pay in these organisations needs to be somewhat "competitive with industry".

RE: Termination payments - It depends what was in his employment contract. However given the nature of his departure, a golden handshake isn't particularly surprising.

There is much more to come out of the CPA story. I am hoping the gutless board get the members together to discuss and analyse the multi million losses in the failing/failed research and advice division before that final cheque is written.

As an outsider (reading the tabloids), it does seem fairly poorly run.

CPA members should really hold them to account, as it is their membership fees that have been pissed away on all these failed ventures, not to mention exec pay.

Absolutely no doubt that Mediterranean sun will promote a tan on anything - yesterday at breakfast the Ette snaffled a couple of bananas for an afternoon snack:

Thinking they were a tad green she placed them in the sun for couple hours hoping they might ripen a tad:

Just like the girlies lies on the beach - an all over tan.

How are the girlies like a banana?

They both have appeal.

My hubby refused to pay his CPA membership. He could see how badly it was being run. Does not need it now anyway, working for an American bank. He has been watching the story with interest.

A cup of coffee in London is more expensive - in fact many places in the world cost more than here to eat out.
#1 son currently in London reported that a restaurant he ate at the other night had "Cloudy Bay" Sauvignon Blanc" for £117 a bottle. He passed up on that. His whole dinner for two was only £300.

PC gone made. Heard on the radio just now that Aldi's were recalling some chocolate bars as they had been sold without the warning they may contain nuts. Which is fair enough. The name of the chocolate bar 'chocolate almond'.

Here's a scary thought.

My JQ flight yesterday was more comfortable than the VA flight of Friday.. Both flights very full.

Do you really think any government could run penegal? :p

Run away from responsibility? :p

Someone once told me that they have absolute confidence in government's ability ... not to execute to plan.

You flew JQ?

Did the press mob you at the boarding gate?

Does not matter what the namer on the product is - Food Standards (FSANZ) mandates by law an allergen statement when there is tree nuts in the bar. Lack of warning statement means the product needs to be recalled.

Looks like the issue has arisen due to the importer (not Hershey's as the manufacturer) not labelling properly for sale in Australia - as it is an imported product it would have to be overstickered to meet AU food labelling requirements re importer details, address, nutritional panel, allergen declarations.
