Another review, this time Urquhart Castle, which is on all the tourist maps; https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attr...it_Loch_Ness_Scottish_Highlands_Scotland.html

Filled with tourists!!! Didn't want to go here but got "forced"! 9 pounds to enter! Waste of money! With sooo many beautiful sites in Scotland one needs not pay to see this castle! Anyways with it being filled with tourists the Charm is lost! Please avoid!

I wonder where the tourist are suppose to go to, if not to a highly advertised tourist spot. I wonder if she realises that she too was/is a tourist. Who were these people, "forcing" her to open her wallet and pay to enter? Are there pillaging Scotsman wandering the roads of the highlands in search of tourists, forcing them towards castle ruins?

For this castle, I'd recommend getting the return boat cruise on Lock Ness with 1 hr stop over.

Some seem to get very carried away with whinges about too many tourists when they are in fact part of the problem.:) These days such sites are very popular. SIL. You pays your money and does a tour or pay an entrance fee or don't see it. That's the reality. I have no problem with paying for these things since someone has to contribute to the upkeep. (However I tend to balk at paying for access to churches in Italy!)

It's one of the reasons we joined the Scottish National Trust actually.

ps: Popular culture says Scots are skinflints as well.:) :)

Qantas ain't doing too bad, but we are getting dangerously on topic.

Depends on how you look at it.0.5% return on equity is pretty miserable. So although it has a large profit in $ terms NZ with 10.6% return on equity is doing a lot better.

Wasn't there a whole thread not that long ago about the morality and ethics of removing food etc from lounges to consume later. This just seems to be covering the same ground all over again...

I use to work for Wilson Parking, who had a box at Swans games plus about 50 tickets per game in the stands.

Hubby use to work with a Scottish guy who would get tickets and parking from me (my office only cared that the seats were filled), so he would get tickets and parking for most, if noit all, of the home games.

Then I left Wilson Parking and the truth came out.

Scottish guy would offer his friends or coworkers to join him at the game and they would buy him a beer and pie at the game or lunch at the office during the week, if he went with someone from the office.

So he basically was getting a free weeks lunches, pie & beer, tickets and parking and me changing jobs was quite inconvenient to him :)

My printer developed a problem over the weekend so I took it to the local computer shop yesterday afternoon. They diagnosed it immediately and said they had to order a fuser roll in. Note that I don't live in a capital city, or even in a major regional centre so I was expecting at least a week turnaround.

Got a text this morning that the printer was ready. Surprisingly brilliant service! :)

Sad news is that I can't put off doing my tax now. :(

Made a booking through Qantas hotels using Samsung smartphone. I'm sure I chose the option with breakfast. Confirmation came through without breakfast. Went back to website and chose option with breakfast again and a different option appears. Obviously glitch in website.

Send email to customer care who give back easy option. Add breakfast at hotel but breakfast at hotel is $14/night while breakfast on Qantas website is $5/night. Doesn't sound like a lot but it's a problem with their website.

Why is internet programming so difficult?

If you were booking a B&B and the room had only double beds and you prefer king or 2 x twins, would you book 2 rooms and tell your spouse, "thats your room" or suck it up for one night? Bearing in mind we've never slept in a double, ever, and we're both large size.
two rooms :)

Happy new financial year everyone. I hope all your dreams come true this year.

Yep glad it is all over and we have now transitioning to a better business model with no more fees as we have left the group... same business just the middle man has now been cut out...

Wake up, have shower, go to kitchen to set slow cooker dinner for tonight, take pre prepared marinade out of fridge, spill soy sauce over myself, go have shower....
*sigh*

Rugby retirement is over rated.

Gemma Flynn, aka Mrs Richie McCaw, is on my instagram and they dont seem to ever stop exercising, running up mountains, gym sessions.

Considering he just retired, you would think he earned a nana nap and sleep in occasionally but apparently not.
