Coffee on Keyboard Situation

;)

Origin of acronym "BNE Lounge Crew"

Love it. I was once in charge of a laptop program for 12 - 13 year olds - now what they did to their computers was nothing short of breathtaking, everything from a spilt science experiment to the dog piddling on it to allowing someone to add a BIOS password that they had no idea of . They were fun times (well, maybe not exactly).

Just like the person who rang the service centre and said the coffee holder on the front of the computer had broken off.
We once had someone call us to say they couldn't print.....but it turned out they had moved the printer away from the network point as they didn't like it where it was and of course it wasn't plugged in. From memory it was someone from the English Department!

When we started a set many years ago with Purple Haze, the lead guitarist, who was always worried about blowing up his amp, had a minor breakdown when no noise came out of the amp. Was distraught. Then we pointed out to him that he hadn't plugged the guitar into the amp yet.

Could not have been the substances of course.

Still damn good advice these days! But, that assumes that a manual still actually exists or is supplied.

Plenty of stuff these days is supplied and supposedly should be usable right from the get-go. In particular, lots of apps these days have little to no help, though it seems they all end up being usable after little or no experimentation and/or with a modicum of intuition (and the correct use of UI elements).

Most computer games these days... you don't learn how to play the game by reading the rules or the manual. There's usually a tutorial or prologue which puts you straight in the game and you learn as you go, with the program usually pointing out particular elements to you.

Revealed: The tricks and scams that earn car hire agents £30,000 in bonuses

Europcar was raided by the Trading Standards in UK this week - I don't think any of these revelations will surprise anyone

I reckon lots of car hire companies (at least, the major players) are in the same dirty league; whether they are just as bad as Europcar (assuming these allegations are true, though it wouldn't surprise me) - or even worse - is another thing.

Interesting how if an individual tries to pull some of this schtick, they could go to jail. A company tries it en masse and you'd be lucky if they got a fine - not even one minute of jail time.

Step 1) Turn on device, whatever it may be.

Step 2) Start using device.

Step 3) Solve unknown requirements as you go.

Step 4) If it breaks/Fails your intellect,......."possibly" consider RTFM.

Step 5) Refer to step 1, Ignore step 4, Rinse and repeat at least 4 times.

Step 6) If all else fails, find a twelve year old kid to walk you through it.

Apparently Imelda II just had no shoes at all to wear - so we made a purchase or 3 in Majorca / Corfu:

And of course if a girl buys new shoes then with an ounce of luck she will see an exquisite handbag which she would just have to buy!

Now I am off to the Swiss site to buy extra baggage for Imelda II CFU-ATH-ZRH.

Oh for the journey I bought 6 belts - threw 2 old ones out - increased my baggage by 4 belts! Sound familiar to anybody?

Yeah, I reckon they would all be genuine knockoffs, given that each of the individual brands appear to have identical buckles. However, at that price I hope they last until you get home, given that you have tossed a couple of your original belts.

Yesterday in Corfu Old Town I bought 6 leather BOSS / ARMANI / DIESEL belts for €4 ~AD5.97:

I wonder if they are genuine?

Only if talking about my husband. Hes we'll known for buying Tshirts wherever he goes. His record is about 50 shirts and rugby jerseys on one trip.

He says he's, "charting his emotional growth through Tshirts". Use to be bands and music, then Scuba, now travel and rugby.

Last trip was about 30 Tshirts and a Rapi Nui rugby jersey from Easter Island.

Cheap leather belts are often actually backed with plastic which splits quickly esp around the holes.

Perhaps MrLtL is an INTJ like me. Instructions are the last resort. ;)

As an ISTJ (Myers-Briggs) I usually read the manual from cover to cover before I even get the item out of the box! I hate it when products come without a full manual. My habit drives MrLtL nuts as he likes to wing it!

I bought a new car a few years ago and was handed the keys and they opened the showroom doors for me to drive off. I don't think they were expecting me to sit there for 60+ minutes reading the manual before I even put the key in the ignition. :)

I go to youtube for the "how does this work" stuff.

Bought a new Dyson and had to put a few pieces together, thankfully a lovely European (Swiss?) had little life who filmed it and put it on youtube for me :)

Same with my phone when I was trying to figure out how to put the sim card in - youtube.
