I just had to teach a young'un how to write out a cheque and explain what non negotiable on it meant.

Dont they teach this in Year 7 Commerce anymore?

People still use cheques? :p

Some of my customers still send cheques, pisses me off no end, where is your credit card, don't you want your frequent flyer points, some people have no idea.

When buying property cheque still seems to be used.

Microwave dinner of Beef Stew. About 80% potato, 15% carrot and 5% beef. Barely palatable.

Yeah, I still have some customers that mail me cheques and then I have to sit on them for a couple of weeks before I get a chance/other cheques to bank them. And pay for a courier to pick up the deposit.

Tried Bpay but that didnt go down well either.

I also have staff that swear black and blue they dont use computers so cant access their pay advices.

Me: Do you have Facebook?
Them: Yes.
Me: Then you use a computer/phone and can access your pay advices.

KFC now delivers I hear.:)

Red Roster does. I had them deliver almost $1K in food the other week - used my VA menulog link and got 2 x points for it :)

Master FM had to open a cheque account when he moved to San Francisco as many places (shops etc), wouldn't accept a credit card, but would take a cheque!

We were pleasantly surprised when buying a car for Dr FM recently that the dealer was happy to have the money EFTd the previous day rather than insisting on a Bank Cheque.

Even real estate agents are slowly changing. At the auction where Ms FM bought her house we turned up with a bank cheque, but one of the other bidders told us he had prearranged that if he was successful, he could eft the deposit, rather than having to have a bank cheque.

We had a nice couple who cleaned our office for us until we retired. I once suggested that I could EFT their monthly payment, rather than giving them cheques, but they said the cheques enabled them to manage their accounts, so they didn't want to swap. They had bikie gang connections, so we never argued with them (best cleaners we ever had though).

Ive seen people at the post office getting money orders for rental deposits.

A landlord/agent would be silly to accept anything else other than a bank cheque, postal order or cash for the first rent payment (in advance) and the bond. Once you hand over the keys you give possession. Tenants can't be evicted in Australia without a fairly long legal process. Subsequent rent payments (always in advance) can be by other means.

Tell me about it, which is why we happily sold a property that needed a reno.

An added F-you from our former tenant was to damage the bathroom and kitchen taps so it flowed 24/7. We didnt get into the house for about 3 days and discovered it, had to turn it off at the main.

I haven't written a cheque for years. But also never learnt how to do so at school.

Have a bad feeling an Uber driver is going to get a bad review.

Some bloke is on his phone yelling and berating with the Uber app open, complaining that the driver doesn't know how to pick him up from a simple CBD street location, viz. "I'm standing on blah-blah Street right now! How can you not see me?!"

Problem is that the bloke is yelling the street name which doesn't match where he is at the moment.
