Don't buy a Miele! Ours is just about to turn 7 years old and luckily we somehow managed to get 7 year warranty due to a keyboard error :D The thing is a lemon ... they must have spent 3x the purchase price on a fix and it's still stuffed. We have 7 Miele appliances and I'm pretty sure we won't buy another one.

If used regularly you actually have to clean the interior. From F&P:

  • At regular intervals have the interior of the dryer cleaned of any accumulated lint. This must be done by a qualified person for electrical safety.
  • If you change the mounting of the dryer from upright to inverted or vice versa, the dryer must be cleaned internally by a Fisher & Paykel Authorised Repairer.

But a grinding noise sounds like a bearing. And that's probably not good news!

Hubby said bearing as well.

Got 12yrs use for $400 so hopefully we're just as lucky with the next one.

Really suggest one with a sensor! Otherwise you have to set a tone and make a guess, for some reason they still make timer ones.

We bought a Miele dryer for work as Hoovers were dying after 6 months. At work we do approximately 5 loads of washing per day 6 days a week. We retired that dryer and brought it home as we purchased a condensing dryer because of all the steam at work. The dryer in its retirement now only does one load a day...... faultlessly. Not bad for dryer purchased in 1991.

Our Miele washing machine purchased also in 1991 only lasted till 2014 at work.

I haven't written a cheque for years. But also never learnt how to do so at school.

I'm down to a couple a year. In Family/ local history circles many associations can't afford the $ or the hassle of accepting credit cards as payment. :)

No matter how many times you have been to Thailand you can be scammed.
What happened?

I got scammed on weekend but that was my fault. Paid 250 baht for Airport limousine to hotel. Asked price to go to Happy City, Santiburi and Waterford golf courses. Quoted 1,000 baht return for first 2 and 2,000 baht return for last one. Ok forget Waterford. Paid him 1,000 baht the first day and 1,100 baht the second day. Around 20 minutes each way. The price threw me out as it costs lot more to get to golf courses in Chiang Mai.

Used meter-taxi a couple of days ago and price quoted to each course in the SUV was 500 baht return and normal sedan 360 baht return.

Feel stupid but I suspect yours might be a little worse.

They usually give a months warning shown in the particular series when it's about to be withdrawn. I'm currently watching Netflix on a cruise ship being streamed in the Baltic.

Correct. So once the notice to withdraw is given, it's time to do a Netflix binge to watch the rest of the series before it dissapears

My office still gets cheques daily in mail and also personally delivered
Dont understand why. The cost of driving to office, parking the car...
We even absorb Visa and Amex fees as making it easier to pay invoices electronically far outweighs the associated costs and the costs of secretaries time to process cheques and cash and walking it up to the bank.

I think for some businesses who charge the merchant fee there is a motive for keeping payments cash

I have an Electrolux dryer - Sensor Dry I think it is. Except majority if the time it stops when everything is far from dry...

Spent an interesting couple of hours last night listening to the 2 DEA agents instrumental in bringing down Pablo Escobar in the early 90s - and upon whom Narcos is based.

Filled a lot of the concert hall in the Opera House - their biggest audience to date.

Wow, I would've loved that, I really enjoyed Narcos. I read "Killing Pablo" a few years ago, and that was a page turner.

I will admit I hadn't really watched it before a friend invited me to go. I watched 2 episodes before and got hooked very quickly.

They said Narcos is about 1/3 reality, 1/3 kind of true and 1/3 Hollywood.

Given the purchase date - I'd say the country of origin is the difference.

How good is the Queensland state of origin team in the rugby league.

Impressive 22-6 win to Qld over NSW and a series win to Queensland.

Bloody awesome. :D

To think that without Thurston we had no chance, particularly as we didn't really win the second match, but rather it was gifted to us.

I didn't watch the game so I didn't see the madness unfold.

I wonder what the betting odds were going into the game.
