Us freefolk in the south are tougher. Although it amuses me seeing how many guys from East and West Asia persist with wearing thongs around Melbourne. But nothing beats the bogan kids I saw last winter in tee shirts and shorts, running around bare footed at night.
I see people wearing thongs in Brisbane now. My feet are freezing with socks and shoes.

I forgot about thermal underwear.

When did "Gay Marriage" rebrand as "Marriage Equality"?

More than 1-2 years ago?
Linguistically, I believe the aim of the change is to stress that two adults of the same sex getting married is in not different to two adults of different sexes getting married, from a legal perspective. It is not to attempt to allow all marriages that are practised in all countries/regions (whether polygamy, marriages to children, etc), but the equality of two adults of the same sex to be married. This also linguistically distances from the negative connotations of the word gay for some people. I think also to try to prevent that there could be a separate kind of union for only gay people that would somehow be differentiated legally to heterosexual marriage.

Those are the nuances that I see.

I remember when that collapsed. It doesn't seem so long ago. Congrats on the GRW.
Finally, I won't have to look at the neighbours by the end of this week. The Great (Retaining) Wall was built in 2 years 7 months and 10 days. The fence will take 3 days Then a week to catch our breath and onto the renovations inside. Will be great to finally have friends and family around. I can feel an AFF BBQ coming on...maybe even a wine appreciation afternoon with a select few. View attachment 103485

Great news. I have been following with interest. You must be relieved!

That's one of many words that we have used....

I'll never forget it. 24 Jan 2015. Fantastic, patient builder and his employees.

You're going to have to show us the after photo!

Proudly and with a degree of exasperation. Turfing and clean up still to be done and just enough $ to buy a new outdoor setting for our "outdoor" patio.

It's just as well we don't know what lies ahead when such issues arise.

In the spirit of accuracy I should point out that most of us from the southern climes don't strut about in t-shirts all winter :). The thermals get a good work out, including at times the long johns. Wind chill is the greatest problem.
Lovely dusting of snow on the hills this morning but it's almost gone now.
some of the kids do - not ours who clearly have inherited my cold aversion genes, but I can remember seeing some of their friends in shorts in winter

I don't know what a Lasagna Topper is but I just ordered one for dinner at the Port Arthur General Store and Takeaway.

Actually getting a burger but ordered one to see what it is.

Edit. Do. Not. Order the Lasagna Topper! Just. No.

Without detracting from the need for worker safety at all, did they really need to close off a lane on a road already encumbered with roadworks further up, along with five 'workers' and a van (there was off street parking available) while just one person was tinkering with a pipe close to the fence (and 3 metres away from the parking lane). Heaven help how pedestrians cope with no protection from cars at all.

Hello all! Long time AFFer but first time Playgrounder. This seems like the best place for something that I really feel I need to share.

I love receiving mail and any sort will do so I always make sure to check the mailbox each day for any interesting little gems.

I was rather disappointed to reach into my mailbox today and find just one item: a partially scrunched-up Hungry Jacks Whopper Junior wrapper, used :-(

Any of the "industry" health funds are pretty good.

I particularly do not like NIB (who by the way are behind Qantas Assure)

Im in AMA (which anyone can join = Doctors Health Fund)

Any opinions on "Defence Health" private insurance? First glance it looks pretty decent. https://www.defencehealth.com.au/he...gclid=CMH7_vebx9UCFdUGKgodSfgKKA&gclsrc=aw.ds

Currently forking out $617 / month ..... top cover with DH is < $400 / month. Devil is always in the detail!

My niece through her husband is with them and have heard no complaints and she does have a lot of health issues requiring (private) hospital stays plus public hospitals. Her travel insurance is also through them.

I used to work in Falls Creek followed by Mildura and now the south west coast of Vic, so my thermostat is well and truly broken.

Short sleeves year round. Work supplied me with a jumper a few years ago - it's still in its wrapper.

I think you're telling a whopper.

Lots of fun to be had here in the Playground area.
