Cheers all!

Seems the on-line quotation builds in the PHI rebate without asking you .... once you take it out the price difference between our current provider is only $19/month. The extras benefits do appear to be very generous..... so still worth a look.

FWIW we are eligible to join Defence Health via SWMBO grandfather's war service.... if you have a family connection to the ADF it's worth checking out.

Interesting that! Both grandfather and father had war service.

Or management can find out what's wrong and try to fix the issues? No that would be too easy. It's much easier to alienate everyone and not care why people are unhappy.

This sounds like my workplace. :(

Most governments think that if you are moving to another country because you don't want to live in your current country, so why do you want to leave once you have arrived.

There is a process for everything, how ever stupid it may seem.
The process is silly. Lives don't go on hold after applying for spouse visa and waiting for a decision.

Personally I think great idea. I'd also love to know other people salarie....r us.

No. Just, no.

What someone else earns is none of your business.

Worry about yourself and your own duties, don't police others.

As someone in payroll, they are not my salaries, they mean nothing to me and don't affect me. I don't police other peoples duties or results, not my concern.

No, they don't, which is good. Did you allow enough time for such an important thing? Weren't there previous immigration-related things you were after which came unstuck because they were done last minute?

Perhaps be thankful that you *can* apply for a spouse visa at all? If this was a same sex partnership you'd be jumping through a whole lot more hoops, potentially having to explain intricate details of your personal lives, just to be granted an interdependent visa (which is demeaning in its own right).

I disagree with this. How is a person new to an industry supposed to know what a reasonable pay rate is if it's treated as a state secret?

This is particularly important for women, who are routinely paid less than men for doing the same job and find it difficult to put themselves forward in the same ways that men do.

Imma just leave this here: Confessions of an overconfident, mediocre man - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I know many recruitment agencies publish 'salary bands', although how accurate those are who knows?

The public service publishes bands, and everyone is expected to start on the base of the band, unless transferring across at level. And provided you meet your performance review you'd get pushed up an increment each year. Makes salaries more transparent. IIRC there is still (at least some) pay disparity between men and women in the public sector, but less so than private because of the transparency?

There are generally accepted industry salary standards that are a good indicator but that doesn't mean that person A should know if person B negotiated a higher salary or allowances based on education, experience ect. At some point, we are not all equal, some staff bring more to the role, others have been with the company longer so salary may be higher than a new starter.

Good that this person has been arrested, hopefully they will be treated with accordingly, preferably with gaol time, too many people these days believe that it's their right to do what ever they want, when they want, without considering the consequences of their actions. Fortunately the pedestrian only suffered relatively minor injuries

What ever happened to good manners, or even in fact common sense? :)

How can that not be attempted murder?

This is not last minute. They can take up to 18 months to process the application. That's too long and I'm not going to stop planning my future travel waiting for them. Charging $145 for each exit from the country is extortion.

4 beers, 3 whiskeys, 1 gin later...pour husband into the car and we're not going out tonight.

Never ordered food delivery to my hotel before, we're having pizza.

A very successful investment bank that shall remain nameless had a three tier policy for remuneration along with the 'tell and you're fired" however it only impacted the first two tiers.

Tier 1 - those that have no clue what they're worth and get paid accordingly.
Tier 2 - those that think they know what they're worth and get paid a little less than that with the base salary set at the 'no idea' rate and the difference paid in bonus (so holiday pay, super etc are lower).
Tier 3 - those that know what they're worth and ensure they get paid that, mostly as base salary with rolling 3 or 5 year contracts with built-in escalation minimums.

One way or another I discovered that some directors got paid less than those with just 3 or 4 years experience all the time whilst they believed they were making multiples of the newcomers remuneration.

Swings and roundabouts.

Very often IMHO many staff are loyal to companies but far fewer companies are loyal to staff and in certain industries very few companies are loyal to staff.

It's a bit like Govts refusing to provide business cases before they spend billions of tax payers' funds - transparency benefits the honest!

Yes, he looks a right royal a*hole. Seemed to veer right across to shove her. That he didn't stop shows he was quite aware of his behaviour and what he'd done.

I've looked at the footage a few times. He seems to veer off his line a few steps to get to her. She seems to stay on the shadow line. I guess he was pissed that she was on "his" side. I hope the book is thrown at him. Disgusting man.

Cyclists, runners are the new rulers of the universe, according to them. Don't dare interrupt their progress towards exercise nirvana.

Western Force have been kicked out of the super rugby.

THE Western Force have been axed from Super Rugby.

The WA club lost its fight to survive, with the Australian Rugby Union this afternoon resolving to discontinue its licence.
It ends a drawn-out saga where the Force was battling with the Melbourne Rebels to remain in the competition.

More here.:shock::(

Shouldn't be such a surprise. Of the two candidates for the chop, I think we all should have correctly guessed the one which both had more legal acumen as well as ability to kiss backside better.
