Finally emerged from my inbox of hell with a lot of caffeine and the reward of some caramel m&ms.
My husband was doing his morning swim at the local pool, got a tap on the head at the end and asked to leave the pool immediately.
There was a poop situation in the pool.
Poor man is still showering in antiseptic.
......That's also the only loyalty I am prepared to give them. That's all they deserve as they pay me on time once a fortnight.
USS Bonhomme at station pier.
What the heck do they need either of those documents for? Surely a basic sign up with credit card number and email is all that is required?
We've had an Optus account for ages but would never disclose those details. It's a con just to get more info on you - and which maybe they might sell-on the info.
Yes. Apparently the new "pay rise" letters have been sent to general managers for distribution. Pay increases effective 2nd pay period in September. Was it you who was posting a few weeks ago about only receiving min wage/CPI increases?

Other than generic HR email there hasn't been any mention of reviews or pay increases. I suspect I may get a ~1% increase which on my salary is not going to even cover the cost of increase in airfares going back to Sydney every 2 weeks.
This is not a good way to treat employees.
Not sure I can explain any better. The company gets very good value for the money they are paying. I worked hard and they did not acknowledge that I had worked hard but gave me a 1.4% salary increase. Worked hard again the next year and got a 1.4% salary increase. At the same time the lower performers are getting 1.4% salary increase. Its hard to reward or invest in an employee that does the bare min and begrudges having to do any more than that.

Good to hear. Now you can put some quality time into organising the next holiday.
This is what you are looking for. The pub up away from the lake was a great spot when we were thereCouple of stupendous storms today in Slovenia, at least the drivers here seem to respect the conditions better and slow down.
Only downside is that here in Bled, we can't see a thing, hopefully it clears overnight.

You have often made comments about how you deemed something not worth the sticker price and "its the principle" in not paying more than what you think its worth. Your employer may think the same.
Edit: The employer can either reward the employee who goes the extra mile when needed/performs outside the expected box or treat all employees the same and the better employee end up looking elsewhere eventually.

Should I continue to work hard or do enough to justify the salary they are paying me? The company does not want to reward better performers.

Before I retired people in our APS agency had not had a wage rise in over 3 years. Lucky I did not work for the money but for those who had financial commitments it became pretty hard. I understand the department has now agreed to a new award but it is still unfair IMO as those who were MoGed into the department are still well under the amounts paid to original staff at level. We haven't paid our people a salary increase for at least a year. We do other things like an odd day off or other benefits that they seem to prefer. But wages generally have been stagnant. Anyone getting a pay increase should be happy.
And the topic of this book? Our book goes irrevocably to the printers in 2 days. Talk about stress and drama; that emoticon is me at around 7am any given morning, lately. Still finding typos. Its scary when you discover an entire missing word on the 7th proof.
The Grammar thread on AFF has nothing - nothing - on our editor!! I've never debated so much about the placement of a comma. En dash vs Em dash vs just plain old dash (bleh!); I would normally say life's too short etc, but this is going to be a high quality job. Hardcover RRP $100; softcover $50.
More checking tomorrow, especially the index.
The really hard part will be not to look at the proofs for the three months until the printed thing arrives from Hong Kong (lest you see a typo, because it can't be corrected). The book is being launched by our Governor in December . My 5th book, and second to be launched by a Gov .
