I remember the fad for deep fried Camembert in the 80's ... Crumbed before cooking & served with cranberry sauce ...
yes! I remember making it in 1981 for our after wedding party. :) Bite sized pieces, crumbed and deep fried.

I once ate an entire wheel of camembert cheese... I would not recommend it.

I couldnt eat it for about 2yrs after that.

Was this your George Costanza moment?

Yes. Yes. Yes. I ate this for the first time with MrP but it was in the late ‘70’s. loved it. I now crumb chicken tenders and serve that with black cherry jam.

MasterP purchased the GF breakfast and tickets a couple of weeks ago before the Crows won through to GF. His gamble paid off. He’s currently on his way to the breakfast at Crown Casino. He is so nervous as are we all. Would be a huge boost to flagging SA spirits. Business this week has been great as people are buying up for family BBQ’s etc. My nephew naughty lad, in a celebratory fugue bought flights from Port Hedland to MEL for the match. He doesn’t even have a ticket. If they bring their A game to the match they will be fine but they sometimes leave that in the shed. Go Crows.

Well I'm off to an excursion on the historical Ida Bay Railway. Its not that I don't like the footy (although I'm not an avid watcher), just that when the date came up I didn't realise its significance

Mmmmmm, cheese...

edit: GIFs dont work anymore?

This one seems to work. Not sure why GIPHY is having problems like that, unless it has to do with them restricting hotlinking.

Deep fried cheese is still around! I remember it being served as a canape during a function I went to a few years ago. I don't think they served it with jam or berry sauce (would have done nicely all the same), but there was sweet chilli.

'Tis one of those things where it's really a guilty pleasure or your eyes eat more than your stomach can bear. For others, it's a rather disgusting concoction (i.e. fatty cheese and then even more fat by deep frying it). That's why berry sauce or even a good salad was necessary to cut through the cheese. Even that GIF of the raclette on steak looks amazing, but after a full meal if you stared at that picture there's a good chance you might be repulsed.

Some arancini that you get can be virtually all cheese with some rice. I've had one such served with a berry sauce and rocket leaves.

Nails done this morning, (just need my fairy wings now).
Cousin called me yesterday afternoon, "I am so over Flight Centre, I have emailed you my credit card details and itinerary, please book it for me."
Guess I am spending the afternoon booking flights, accommodation, activities, car hire for her family holiday in the USA next month. (opps - on topic)

I have a friend who has just been transferred to John Hunter Hospital, looks like she has "locked in syndrome" after a brain aneurysm, so I count my blessings on being able to help my cousin.

Very swish nails. Ant particular event? Best wishes for your friend - a real worry.

I think you are referring to a Raclette grill. Do a google search as a couple of places that sell them are listed on line.
i have one - my sister-in-law used to live in Switzerland and she gave us one. Very yummy, with new potatoes and pickles and bits of meat. Haven't used it for awhile, but the kids used to love it, particularly grilling their meat and then pouring the melted raclette cheese over it.

sounds like Ms FM and her honeymoon. I was nagging her to sort it out, as concerned that accommodation in the Rockies would vanish, so she just handed the whole thing over to me and asked me to plan and book it. :)

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I have flown Virgin OS business 6 times (old seats) and yes the crew are great fun...... But who was the moron that thought that having staff throw a champers bottle over passengers in the Ad released today would improve Virgin image?
