I dread the day that we will hear of an AFF'er caught up in one of these awful situations. On a personal front my SIL was very distressed as the South Australian Nurse who was killed giving aid in the London attack a few months ago was known her as she was her daughters swimming coach and her son's partner to his school formal. Every time something like this happens she revisits it. So its like people are always reminded of awful events over and over again.
In July 2014 I was down in Adelaide visiting a friend and turned on the TV in the hotel room in the morning to watch the news. Never watch it at home, but it seems to be something we do when away. They had the first news of MH17 being shot down. I immediately turned to Mr FM and said oh I hope xyz isn’t on that plane, because I knew they were travelling back around then. But I didn’t really worry, as you always have that feeling of invulnerability - things like that happen to other people - not people you know. The next day her daughter phoned to tell me her parents had been on the plane. Since then I always worry when I hear about one of these tragedies. I also hate sunflowers.

May have already happened as there are many using AFF anonymously.

It's a very small world. I've played golf recently with people who have lost or know people who have lost loved ones in the recent terrorist attacks in the UK this year.

It doesn't even begin to explain the stupidity of humanity. There's too much senseless killing.
Remember how the West sat back while the river flowed red in Rwanda?

Vested interests appear to decide what matters (to them). Can't wait for the NRA campaign on this one.

The west sat back when Croatia was seceding from Yugoslavia. George Bush Senior decided a communist dictatorship constructed state was better then free democratic states.

Collins street Falcons chicks have hatched.

I remember you saying this. It is something you just don’t expect and throws us for six when it does.

So exciting. We had a currawong nest last year directly our our window but down on level 4. We loved watching the chicks developing. Unfortunately from three eggs only one made it and left the nest.
Couple of years along the Maribyrnong River I noticed a falcon circling up above. I wondered whether it was a descendent of the Collins street coupling.

On the other hand, I have been vigilant for swooping Magpies on bike rides. Sort of like going through a canyon looking up at the high ground, when passing tall gums

It has been 22 years but I can still remember clearly happening to hear a news update on the radio shortly after I got home from school which was reporting a mass accident involving polytech (NZ TAFE) students. I was sitting on the lounge floor reading the newspaper, eating a tomato cup of soup in these brown mugs we had. I don't know how I knew, but I just knew my best friend was involved. The odds were pretty remote but my gut was right :(

Back home and have craving for fetta cheese. The first thing I eat almost every time I am back home.

Google Maps’ creepiest discovery yet

Must admit, if you look up my mums house, you see her in the front yard watering her garden.

I havent told her yet as shes not online and I dont know how she will react/understand to her being on google earth in her summer dressing gown, watering her roses.

Im still QF pleb bronze... oh well, its not like Ive flown them in the past 10+yrs.

I just wrote out 45 cheques. An hour of my life I will never get back.

You're right, and they wont take everything either.

And to illustrate just how pathetic even this option is, last month I ordered something from an online seller one suburb over, to be delivered to a parcel locker at a Auspost hub, which is a couple blocks away from my office.

It took them 5 days.

I highly suspect that the parcel had to go through that post office so that it could be sent to the sorting centre on the other side of Melbourne before taking several days to come back. Ah the inefficiency of scale...

The driving distance between the vendor and the delivery address is 3.5km. I'm picking up my item from the seller this time.

@TomVexille, I've opted for a click and collect from online suppliers in Melbourne on my trip next week @blackcat20 :D ;) . No issue then about receipt of goods as payment will have already been made.
