Law.JPG My uni project has reached the stage where I need to understand the legal system operating in NSW and Tasmania in the 1810s-1820s. :(

Sigh ... rocks were much simpler.

Having lunch with hubby and the two women next to us talking about one of their breaks ups.

Apparently he wouldn't let her use the phone.

Simple. There were the military, hangers on and convicts. If a convict you were an amateur geologist-breaking stones every day.

Things you learn: The First Supreme Court of NSW could not operate for several years after it was established in 1814 because the Judge (Judge Bent, as it happens) refused to allow attorneys who were ex convicts to appear in his court (there was a chronic shortage of lawyers in the colony at the time .. strange but true). Now, he was obliged to sit with two lay magistrates, who would have over-ruled him but Bent simply refused to enter the court room, so the court sat idle for a couple of years.

When he arrived, Bent refused to de-board his ship until he was given a 13 gun salute (a fine early example of DYKWIA) and he also invoked the royal prerogative of not paying tolls ...

RooFlyer that was setting the standard for all DYKWIAs for the next 203 years and I have met a couple. They tend to be tin gods.

Ouch,

Probably best to steer clear of these dodgy products

CUDDLY SENSITIVE HYPO-ALLERGENIC FABRIC SOFTENER
Choice awarded this going for a fabric softener that performs worse than water while costing 3000 times more.

Samsung earned its third lemon gong over a washer/dryer that Choice said wasn’t up to scratch.
Choice said the firm’s WD16J9845KG washer/dryer was expensive at $2999, took six-and-a-half hours to dry a full load, and used 210 litres of water. Mr Godfrey said it would cost consumers an extra $400 a year just to run the appliance. “In the time it takes to dry a load of clothes, you could nab a cheap fare from Sydney to the Gold Coast and dry them on the beach every week for nearly a year instead of buying this shonky product,” he said.

For those that have never stayed at the Novotel Syd Olympic Park, these are the room curtains.

Or as hubby describes them, crime scene blood splatter where you wake up the next morning and ask yourself, "What the **** did I do last night?".

Also looks like someone smeared faeces...

We first stayed here years ago, when Medium (Red John murderer) was on TV... can you see the smiley faces in the blood spatter?

Oh jeez, the faces make it even worse! You think the hotel would have got enough complaints for those curtains on some many levels?

Socceroos hard done by a dodgy penalty. Jeez I hate some of the blatant corruption in the World Game.

Can’t you “cut and paste” like what most lawyers do?:)

........

The point of internet shopping is so I dont have to go to the store/post office ect (to collect).
Sometimes the time it takes to internet shop is longer than the time it takes to go to shop, shop, and return

With the recent tragedies and deaths in the world this one seems to have been missed:

AUSTRALIA’S gentleman motoring writer, Chris de Fraga, this week joined a select and sadly missed driving team in the sky after losing his battle with cancer.

The former motoring editor of The Age, who moved from ink to microphone in the early 2000s to host a weekly motoring program on Melbourne’s 3AW

"Every week an Australian is murdered overseas as stats reveal 1600 tourists have died abroad in the last year"

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4951360/Every-week-Australian-murdered-overseas.html#ixzz4ufZxCv1A

A report on Australia's recent consular assistance, released on Thursday, reveals 49 Australians were murdered overseas in the financial year ending June 30.
The deadliest destination for Aussies abroad is Thailand, which sees the highest number of deaths, hospitalisations and requests for consular assistance.
The popular holiday spot has the highest number of missing persons cases, and the fourth highest number of arrests, detentions and imprisonments

We were talking about overseas travel and accidents in the office.

Its like we park our brains when in a 3rd world country with limited medical access and suddenly, where we would never ride a motorbike without a helmet and in thongs on a bad mountain road, suddenly its a fabulous idea. Or lets take drugs and get drunk with random strangers in isolated places. Crazy.

Husband phones me, he had a wardrobe malfunction at the swimming pool today.

He suddenly felt a lot of fresh water in between his butt cheeks and found his speedo jammers seam frayed/torn and he was now sunny side up to the other fogeys in the pool :)

He signaled an attendant over to get his towel and apologised.

Attendant: Mate, some of the things we see, we appreciate any fabric covering your nuts.
