Up to 95.6% today!

They must be about to open the Wivenhoe spillgates soon (assuming they haven't already). Unless they want to start using the "flood mitigation" levels as well.

Only in Queensland can you have dams > 100% ;)

Has anyone heard from shano?

His profile does not mention last activity date and time and his last post on AFF is on 27 April 2009.
No, but I'm sure there are plenty like him in the membership.

Had the same thing on FT yesterday, when ozmerish finally posted - a year between posts. Well, yes, he has been a busy boy.

Thanks to some local knowledge and planning by ozbeachbabe we are having a really good time in Darwin.

Dinner last night on the wharf with the threat of a thunderstorm was both really good food and entertaining. We then sat and solved the problems of the world over a glass of red until ozbeachbabe left at around 1030pm. We got to sleep in but she had to be up for work at 0430 :!:
Hope you remembered to say hi for me (even though I didn't remind you in advance).

Today we swam with crocs, handled crocs, snakes and goannas, looked at a B52 bomber, saw a memorial to a friend who was killed in an F-18 accident.
So you want to tempt fate - not like you...I remember you telling me about the F18 crash, that would have been a sobering experience.

I also bumped into another friend who I knew in the RAAF many years ago and who now flies 737s for QF. More to come tomorrow!
Did you get him signed up to AFF? He could give really good information

I thought so too, but from what I read, Wivenhoe’s capacity including flood mitigation should go well over 200% and I doubt that the next 13 days of rain from tomorrow will double the water we have now and more…

Saw Up In The Air at the cinemas yesterday. The last movie I saw in a cinema was the latest Bond movie Quantum of Solace; before that, the last movie was six years ago.

Bundy Bear came along to ease his withdrawals after seeing it the first time a week earlier.

Now if you're a sensitive type like serfty, then "here be spoilers".

P.S. DO NOT quote this post!

You may very well know why....
Thanks ... NOT!

I have not seen the film, nor I guess quite a few others.

You should at least post a "SPOILER ALERT" before posting such.

That's the end of this thread for me for a while ...:evil::evil:
Serfty I thought you would have been one of the first people to see it, you will like it; and you will like it enough to point out the errors.
Wonder how long it will be before its included on the airline's IFE?
March 2010 ... I watched it Sunday evening on the way back from HKG.
Just in case you could not follow the conversation spread over many pages. :p ;)

Wow. My TV just updated itself. Pretty freaky - never realised firmware updates were coming through the broadcast signal.....

What kind of TV? Mine has never done it. But then again, I use mine with my media PC and hardly ever watch broadcast.

It's a Sony Bravia LCD. Just reading on Whirlpool - seems a bit of it happening tonight.

I knew it could be updated through the USB port, but didn't realise it could be done on the broadcast signal.

Very good, thanks!

How long did that take you ;)

I know my Foxtel iQ is updated late at night through the signal… seems to go wrong more time than it goes right though, as I’ll wake up in the morning to a frozen box and have to unplug it to reboot it.

No more than a couple of minutes. ;)

Optus have sent updates through to our set top box in our house. I am giessing that is done via the broadcast signal but I could be wrong.

Set top boxes I understand - Foxtel or Optus pretty much control what they send down the line. Just was surprised that manufacturers could use a free to air signal to do it.

i was under the impression that this was not possible in australia.

That does sound weird. Where is proper Change Control and similar "right to object" to an upgrade happening?

you'll find settings on your tv's menu to enable/disable firmware upgrades.

that exists on all tv's, but its not possible to get upgrades everywhere.
