The tracking cookies are a bit of a worry. I installed Ghostery and the Qantas website does not function as a restricted site.

I really hate how websites have access to my machine. I pay to download data onto my machine but I also pay for businesses to upload from my machine. How did we ever allow this one to develop and become part of our browsing experience?

Just did my first purchase from Amazon.com.au that launched today. Swimwear for $45. It’s a style almost impossible to get in Australia with a little frilly skirt. Let alone the prices for swimwear in Australia. The tinier they are the more dollars they cost. Which isn’t relevant in my case ;). Covers the top of the legs. Last purchase on a swimsuit like this was from debenhams in the UK that cost a lot more.

Trip Advisor again. Oh no, the picture on the website is what you see when you stand in front of it!

I went on holiday with my parents, my dad being a photography buff wanted to see the castle, when my dad told me we were going to see a castle I was quite happy as I like looking around castles and exploring different rooms. This to me is not a castle, it's a fairly small building built on an island that you can't get to. So there was absolutely no point seeing it. The picture on this page is basically what you see, boring and uninteresting, what's the point in calling it a castle if there is no castle and you can't explore it.

Edit: you can visit this castle, they do have tours/boat crossing.

I think Facebook is the worst with data sharing, even my iphone with the photos is matching up different photos of people,

Even photos you thought you deleted still show up, its really annoying.

The scary stuff is youre online, looking at igloos in Iceland and next youre on Facebook and there are ads for Iceland/ect. Stop stalking me!

I also found interesting when the real estate guy in Qld killed his wife (cant remember his name), part of the police evidence was him saying he slept all night but his phone data showed he started charging it/accessing at particular times during the night. Just charging your phone records data.

I look up things on my work computer, and get matching adds on my phone on Instagram....I dont even use the same log in/account for work versus my phone.

Yes tourists can have some funny ideas on holiday-

"The Louvre is one of the world’s most popular museums, but TripAdvisor reviewer Palindromeman was seriously unimpressed by his visit this year. He wrote: 'Musee du Louvre - bad. Short answer: bored… Apparently there is between 14 to 16 kilometers of boredom on offer at the Louvre. I could not do it.' Of the Mona Lisa, he wrote: 'She's small. Effectively A4 size…. And that smile? She looks to me like she just pulled a bank job and got away with it.'

A visitor to Spain was unimpressed with the amount of Spanish people in the country, writing: 'There are too many Spanish people. The receptionist speaks Spanish. The food is Spanish. Too many foreigners now live abroad.' Another complained: 'Why doesn’t everyone speak English? We went to Spain and no one understood English. We will never go back there again.'

One holidaymaker was irate after forking out for a hotel in London, only to find there was no ocean, complaining: 'Our London hotel didn't have an ocean view.' Another moaned: 'We went to London and couldn't find the beach.'

One tourist was disappointed after a trip to the zoo, writing: 'The animals at the zoo looked very sad and it made our children cry. Can’t they train them to smile?' Another visiting Yellowstone National Park moaned: 'We had to cut our trip short to Yellowstone because we were informed that they don’t cage the animals at night for our protection.”

Companies treat our personal information like a game.

I sent Microsoft/Outlook a complaint that their spam filters are not working. I created a rule to reject and delete certain Bitcoin emails but now I'm getting more and more. No reply.

The more emails I get about bitcoin the more I feel this time isn't different.Yes could have made a motza on the way up but then you had to be sure when the fan comes into play.
The chart of bitcoin looks just like the chart of tulipmania.still a little way to go but at least when that burst you could plant your bulbs.

Trying to log into ebay via the QF online mall but it's just spinning. Anyone else had any luck recently?

This is where incognito/private windows comes in handy. That or separate browsers for social/shopping.

Businesses are still storing way too much personal information. Obviously privacy laws don't mean much.

The one that gets me is how does a 3rd party company get information from my laptop/browser that say Qantas has stored? This should be illegal. No?

I'm unclear about what you're saying. A 3rd party accessing QF cookies?

The citizenship saga is back in full effect, as we all knew it would be.

Almost as if most politicians are actually too stupid to live.

It’s interesting seeing others being flushed out when previously they were purported to be squeaky clean.

Always going to happen, given we are talking about a group of people given authority to police their own eligibility.

Politicians should never say these words. “Always” and “never”. Comes back to bite them frequently.

Correct. What is stopping any website from taking any cookie that is stored on my laptop? Respect? Trust? Yeah right.
Websites can only store/access their own cookies on your browser, they can't access other website's cookies. Same with advertisers. Tracking cookies are the PITA though, as some are more aggressive than others and border on stalking. (Take the FB example where they tracked non FB users)
