But Google maps shows 2 churches and a grocer's shop in Norosi. But nothing else for many miles around.

Juddles you are one of my heroes. The work you do is so important especially in South America and in Africa where I believe your brother mostly works. If left to the artinisal miners the environment will just deteriorate. So your work is appreciated and one day I hope the 2 of you will get the recognition you deserve though I know that is not why you are doing this.

despite a planet and generation of good-thinking people, some things are just too complicated. I choose to tackle that area for selfish personal reasons.

I lost faith a long time ago. So many ideas, so little reality. The only thing I really believe in is a real tree I plant. Too many people huddled over a cappuchino. I walk my walk, and am proud of it, and I try to inspire same in my children. But in this game there are no heroes. I do this for myself. Totally in an anti-altruistic fashion.

Bought myself a proper Guardian dash camera from Australia Dash Cams last night. Ive had a couple of cheap ones off ebay but finally bit the bullet on a more expensive one as the cheap one is dying.

Best not to have too much evidence available in case you're the one at fault.

Big Brother is watching and they can see everything including inside your home.

Well if youre the one at fault, youre not likely to hand it over to police or the insurer.

Edit: Although if you are at fault, just accept it and apologize.

What model did you buy?

I went with the: Street Guardian SG9665GC V3 128GB because of the % discount for EOY clearance.

Usually $400, down to $310. Street Guardian SG9665GC V3 GPS CPL 128GB

I noticed that the 64GB version went out of stock today. No battery (so it doesnt work while in the carpark/while youre shopping) but Im ok with that. Might think about having it hardwired but again, Im not too fussed about the wiring being seen/using cigarette lighter thingy.

Sadly you should not apologise or your claim might fail.

Ta. That's the one I thought you may have bought. How does one fit these things to hide all the cables and the GPS receiver?

I use YouTube on how to insert my new sim and how to put my latest Dyson together.

Thank God for people with way too much time on their hands!

Ah yes I know that. What I was wondering is how does one hide the cables inside the lining of the car/windscreen surrounds. Is that easy to do or does one need a garage to do it?

No idea. It starts at the fuse box and up the column and it comes with the some clips that too might use along the roof lining.

I wouldn't do it myself anyway. I don't even like to change lightbulbs.

You may not have a choice of handing it over. You could be involved in something you don't want to know about.

Life is changing very quickly.

It is usually pretty easy to take off the A-pillar* trim. Just be mindful of putting any cable anywhere near the airbag wires if fitted.

I have BNE-SYD flights already booked on 29/12/2017 and returning on 01/01/2018. Wife doesn't want to go SYD as we will be there for 4 days for Christmas. Totally understandable. These are double SC's flights. Think I paid $105 each way. Change fee is $99 and there are a couple of dates in January and February that I am missing that I could move the flights to but cost would be ~$150 all up.

I have a better proposal that would cost a few more dollars but not lose the double SC's.

BNE-SYD 29/12/2017
SYD-BNE 30/12/2017 on JQ?
BNE-SYD 31/12/2017 on JQ?
SYD-BNE 01/01/2018

I think it is a brillian plan. Wife and mum think I am nuts. Don't know why they would think that way....

I note that the 12.76% to retirement hasn't changed in a while. Could all the chasing SCs have a bearing on this?

Mod: Rant about xray security do they know technology, Stupidy or actual policy?

Today for the first time in 20 years of flying major capital city airports all throughout Australia and the world ie. New York, LAX and in between..... I had the most thorough laptop pre x-ray experience and would like to know if I was profiled, policy or just stupidity of the security officer.
I carry a $4k laptop in a protective cloth, neoprene cover, zip lock bag and shopping bag over that. Yes it's over kill..... But still in good condition.
99.99% of the time I remove from backpack in plastic bags and place it in a tray. X-ray scan fine all done. Might get bomb/drug scan inside of plastic bags only once in ADELAIDE 5 years ago.
Today Brisbane domestic.....
Security: laptop? Please remove to naked
Me: seriously never had to before, been all over the world..... As I complied.
Security: They are not doing their job properly.
Security: Now place plastic bags in one tray and laptop by itself in next tray.
Me: I complied as u can't beat........
I mean what can the x-ray machine not see thru plastic bags?
I then got the bomb/drug scan I expected in 24secs with pleasant profile questions.....

Oh a full can of deodrant spray went thru before me and box of drugs in clear bag was not asked to be separated..... Before me.

Finally merry Xmas Brisbane airport security x-ray staff member that went beyond New York security on a laptop?

I reckon the flag got raised at the getgo with all the packaging and perceived ‘reluctance’ and push back. I’ve only seen nekkid laptops in the trays. Maybe you were lucky the other times.
