Of course it's a rort.

After I said I'm not interested he interrupted to tell me that Funeral insurance is important.

Not it's not. I'm not interested.

Only to the funeral insurance industry/provider.

My mother signed up to similar a while ago for some reason, and I didn't know until her cooling off period had finished.
I really must talk to her about this.

Once ordered a beer advent calendar for my brother, 25 different beers from around the world.

Seller kept saying its at the post office, where we had a PO box, post office kept saying not us, we dont have it. Eventually found the box being used as a step by stupid short bucket-hat man while sorting mail. The same postie that got arrested for stealing gift cards. Hubby never liked stupid bucket-hat man, which is why we changed PO boxes.

Pre-paid funerals I can understand, but sadly enough people get sucked in by the radio and tv adverts for insurance.

Wonder how many people will be demanding refunds for Rocky Horror now that Craig McLachlan has withdrawn from the production? We were planning to go in BNE but only because he was in the cast. Not interested now. (Seen RH many times including original production in London in 1973 three times for MrsTMA).

No label remaining on it, sorry. I'll be going past the nursery later in the week and see if they can tell me.
Fabulous, thank you! I used to have a white peach but I wont have enough space to have as many trees as before, so dwarf might be a good option.

I saw him in Rocky 20+yrs ago, maybe 25yrs and he was really, really good in the part.

Craig lives in same apartment block as my BIL. Jim will not be happy if media start camping (pun) out the front of building.

Yes. I'm not sure how funeral insurance has taken off.
It's a very old insurance from the early days of the last century (or earlier) when people were worried about being able to afford a funeral. My grandmother's generation were concerned about having enough money put aside when they died to have a 'proper' burial.

I didn't realise it's been around a long time. I have only started getting cold calls the past couple of years.

You must be being targeted.;)
I'm a lot older than you and haven't had any.

But seriously this insurance doesn't look like very good value. The offer of a return of 150% of your premiums once you turn 85 makes me laugh. Surely as one gets older the chances of dying and someone collecting on the insurance increases. Seems like a rather underhanded practice to me.

My mum and dad prepaid their funeral. It was a bit of a shock when the funeral people arrived after Dads death to see his signature. His funeral was held pretty much as he planned it, Australian flag due to War service and the requested music etc. When Mum died my niece and I had specific requirements about flowers and coffin. White coffin and only pink flowers. It was a bit of a shock when we attended that meeting to see that Mum had paid for a white coffin and pink flowers. We completely changed her music requests though. Well I did. She wanted religious music (she set up her plan 15 years before she died) but in her later years she turned from religion. So I chose Ave Maria by Il Divo on arrival, Thankful by Josh Groban for reflection time, and we left with What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. I still can’t listen to Thankful without being sad which is a bit of a shame as I love Josh Groban.

It was actually helpful they selected their funerals etc but we won’t do the same. I now know to set up a bank account with all the kids as co signees and put money into that account so all immediate expenses are easily paid for without any legal involvement.

As PoA for Mum, a lawyer suggested just prior to mums death that we put most of her money into a joint account so that there was minimal issues for us to deal with post. We just left $5000 in her account and approx $100,000 in that joint account. The three of us, Mum brother and I were all signatories. That was a great move. Took us so much more pfaffing to get that $5000 out than in dealing with the $100,000 and avoiding Probate.
