As PoA for Mum, a lawyer suggested just prior to mums death that we put most of her money into a joint account so that there was minimal issues for us to deal with post. We just left $5000 in her account and approx $100,000 in that joint account. The three of us, Mum brother and I were all signatories. That was a great move. Took us so much more pfaffing to get that $5000 out than in dealing with the $100,000 and avoiding Probate.

My grandma is quite unwell at the moment and mum has done similar, moving some money out for potential funeral costs so it doesnt get tied up.

It just seems like a much more sensible thing to do if you’ve got some spare cash rather than deal with funeral bonds and policies.

So I chose Ave Maria by Il Divo on arrival, Thankful by Josh Groban for reflection time, and we left with What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. I still can’t listen to Thankful without being sad which is a bit of a shame as I love Josh Groban.
We played Ave Maria at my father’s funeral. I can’t listen to it now without welling up.

As far as my funeral goes - cremated and ashes scattered down the Summit at Falls Creek thanks. And the reason I am happy to be so public is that when Dad died we actually didn’t know if he had wanted to be buried or cremated. So I would like everyone to know to avoid any angst.

Yeah. My iPhone playlist when driving down to our shack last week randomly played Ave Maria and then Thankful. Turned it off and listened to the cricket instead.
Cremations are a known in our family and only grandparents were buried.

You must be being targeted.;)
I'm a lot older than you and haven't had any.

But seriously this insurance doesn't look like very good value. The offer of a return of 150% of your premiums once you turn 85 makes me laugh. Surely as one gets older the chances of dying and someone collecting on the insurance increases. Seems like a rather underhanded practice to me.
That's the whole insurance business in general. Your eyes are opened once you work for an insurance company and see their attitude towards people.

Totally wrong!

As a family historian, it's a burial for me, with my siblings, parents and grandparents named on the headstone. I'm thinking of the historians in the future crying over 'privacy' laws and deleted digital everything. I also specify that my census returns get released after 100 years.

No one may care, but if some one wants to find me when I'm gone, they'll have a chance.:)

With me it's more to prove to people that I've really died.

We've discussed these things in our family and everyone knows how the others want to be disposed of.

I have Nana Mouskoui's version on my ipod.

Every time I hear, You'll Never Walk Alone, I think of my sisters mother in law. She was a lovely, lovely lady.

My funeral song is Copperhead Road, with instructions to make it LOUD!

Brisbane Roar ticket sales must be poor. I've been offered 2 tickets to a game of my choice. Chose 18 January against Perth Glory.

Is it wise to take an infant to a soccer game? Hoping I can find 2-3 seats away from the crowd. Shouldn't be too difficult at Suncorp?

We went with Hamilton, awesome show ... we all enjoyed it, the kids loved it!!

Not sure. I purchased our tickets back in April. Walked past the ticket office and thought someone on AFF might like to get an idea on the pricing.

Thanks for sharing. I’m surprised Hamilton has maintained that pricing (but tickets are scarce) given the rise of Dear Evan Hansen.

I’d be going to both!

Hmm. Consumer Affairs should have a word to them about failure to deliver advertised/purchased goods. Probably 50% of ticket sales would be due to Craig McLachlan playing the lead.

They would get nowhere. They make no warranties that the person will be performing in any night in question due to the fact they’re human and get sick, have a break etc. You are still getting the same show and another talented performer in the role.

Such a different world.
My first memory of communication involved a party line where 5 rings was for us and the neighbours all eavesdropped.
Fast forward and I have just been chatting to #2 son on Skype .
He is walking up a hill miles from anywhere in light snow on the Camino with 4 bars of signal…...

But I submit that it’s not simply a case of an understudy but the principal is no longer headlining the show. That’s misleading and deceptive practice. That’s the reason you bought the tickets to see CM in the role. Like buying tickets to Bruce Springsteen and having him replaced with Barry Manilow.

The last post does the same thing to me courtesy of my grandfather's funeral.

Last Post always stirred me but since my Poppa’s funeral I just can’t hear it. It takes me straight back to seeing my father saluting his father as the coffin was loaded into the hearse.

It’s not misleading and deceptive conduct per the Consumer Law. It is an event outside of the control of the Promoter of the event and the terms of ticket purchase will allow for use of the understudy without entitlement to refund.

Having a single performer show change the performer is never going to happen - it would simply be cancelled. This is a stage production with many performers and a plot/ narrative and the show is capable of going on and they have understudies specifically for this purpose.
