The totally off-topic thread

Just as you don't have to read any posts about electricity or dysons etc?:confused:
There are dedicated threads for both of those and you won't find me posting in any of them.

If superannuation is off limits in this thread then both of the above are as well. If no then what's the difference?

Be consistent and don't play the man.

August Painted Silo local pub accommodation with ensuite at Patchewollock VIC is $50 per night! Hhahahaahahahah.

He keeps mentioning the split system - apparently this is a very important selling point of the accommodation as hes mentioned it 3 times so far.

The best bonfire kindling ever?

Apparently its open for visitors first Sunday of every month.

Im sure my husband will want to photograph it... wonder if there is a Day Spa in country Victoria, and Im not talking a cow trough.

Its some sort of old grain store: https://www.thestickshed.com.au/placeholder-assets/The-Stick-Shed-Brochure.pdf

THE MURTOA STICK SHED (previously known as the Murtoa No. 1 Grain Store) is the only remaining emergency grain store built during World War Two and is an enduring testament to iconic Australian bush ingenuity and a symbol of the growth and strength of the Australian wheat industry.

Wartime restrictions meant the builders of the Murtoa Stick Shed had to rely upon and adapt existing bush traditions and techniques...... The unavailability of steel meant 560 unmilled hardwood poles were used in the Stick Shed’s construction.

The Stick Shed is the 101st place included in the National Heritage List

The BOM have created a conundrum for maximum and minimum temperature here in Adelaide. For years it was based in the West Terrace Parkland where surprisingly (for some ;)) each night around 4pm the temperature would register a fall. Because the local high school put the sprinklers on.

Many years ago they moved to Kent Town which is all asphalt. Surprisingly the temperature did not fall around 4pm. And was warner overall. Aha. Climate change in just a few years.

Recently they moved back to near the original location. And now we have temperature recordings 2 locations for max temp in Adelaide. While just say 2 k’s apart as the crow flies one is consistently 3 degrees warmer than the other.

This is The Science???

Daylesford is breautiful! Spas, art galleries, little antique shops, organic produce. Mr FM and I spent a wonderful long weekend there - must be close to 10 years ago now. Always meant to go back.....

So can we have a JohnK woe is me thread then?

Just pointing out that if you ask for posts to be moved, you probably shouldn't be telling people to ignore posts that don't interest them. Consistency is all I ask :)

Nah. The off-topic thread is fine for off-topic posts that don't already have a thread.

Posts have been moved anyway.

You know that the BoM adjusts the raw temperatures anyway? Funnily enough its always is in the same direction. Can you guess?

And don't get me started on how the world body ( whoever they are) purport to measure the whole Earth's temperature to 1/100th of a degree year-on-year and declare each time, like Juan Antonio Samaranch "it's the best Olympic games hottest year ever "

Quick questions for Melbournians.... Can I buy a single train ticket from Flinders St Stn to Middle Brighton? (or do I have to get your version of Opal card? )

Life is strange and sometimes makes little sense.

Daughter can't be without her mother. If her mother goes to bathroom to brush her teeth and daughter notices she starts screaming and runs to the door to bang on door. Sometimes I can trick her with a hug and she comes to me and then laughs when her mother returns.

So last week was the first daddy and daughter day trip. Woke her up at 3:30am and headed off to airport together in hire car while her mother stayed home. A little time in lounge, flight at 5:20am, get home so she can spend some time with parents and brother, go to GP for 18 month vaccine a little early, back home and then to airport in the evening and back to Brisbane to go back to apartment by train.

Daughter hardly cried. She comfortably sat on my lap for both flights and we looked at magazines together and she only whinged towards the end of each flight and I managed to calm her both times. Didn't sleep much and only slept for around 30 minutes late afternoon. She enjoyed the trip immensely. She loved it back home in Sydney and walked everywhere.

These are the times that matter most. The rest is to just fill in time. Still in shock as to how smoothly everything went. I'm really proud of my daughter. Think we try again Anzac Day.

This is Jessica. She felt like pizza tonight but thought to order a larger size so there would be some for tomorrow. Jessica ate it and is now full.

There will have to be something else for tomorrow.

Jessica is a bit of a glutton - actually I can’t think of anything that fits in this sentence the way I’ve written it.

This is pushka. Pushka is hungry and is jealous of Jessica because she is waiting for a UK Skype work call to finish before she can finish dinner prep.
