We had yum cha on Friday for lunch. I love it but not long after the headache kicks in and so very thirsty.
Wasn't MSG a huge issue here years ago and most take-aways stopped using MSG?

I'd want to know if MSG was added and avoid it.

Restaurants still put MSG into the food?

I think ive had aussie bought "chinese" about 5 times in the past 4 years, because Im so disappointed in the aussie offerings.

Although, there is a tiny chinese restaurant on Constitution Dock Tassie that was really good. Last nights home delivery was blah as I expected. Will have to go back to Tassie at this rate.

.

There is no requirement for restaurants/takeaways to declare the presence of Msg.
You can ask though but Is the answer going to be the truth?.
Yes it’s approved for use in food preparation by NSW Food Authority

The headaches and thirst after a Chinese meal are a dead giveaway regardless of what they tell you.

I don't buy Chinese that often but I've not experienced anything like what I experienced at Mekong in the 80's-90's.

That’s the popular opinion: MSG = thirst

I think more likely that it’s the excessive salt in Chinese cooking causing headache and thirst.

Jury still out. I don’t have empirical evidence one way or another

Other than the food generally tasting nicer, I don't know if I am thirstier with MSG as I'm generally drinking a bit any way. (and not just water ;) )

They usually cancel the 9:26pm train. It looks like they've cancelled the 8:26pm train today. How do they know which train I'll be on?

Just as well I'm not paranoid.

Hubby went to Bunnings very early this morning, wearing a lime green tuxedo Tshirt.

Check out operator said it was nice to see a tradie in formal wear for once.

Why does my calendar thinks Im staying at the Radison in Abu Dhabi?

Ive checked our bookings, we have a 2hr layover in AUH on the way home from Scotland so why does my calendar think Im staying at a hotel nearby?

Mystery layover? :)

I wont complain, as long we as we still have our J seat for the trip home and there is wifi for me to work. A bit of heat would be good after 3weeks of UK weather but I suspect nothing will come from the mystery booking.

Fired up laptop this morning to catch up on some things to do and couldn't log on to Vista with any account. Had to enable the hidden administrator account and setup new user account.

That's an hour I won't get back.
