Ive been using TNT for parcels to niece, overnight and same price as aussie post, that took over a week the first time I sent her something.

Was going to use TNT last week but that was to a parcel collect box so wasnt sure if I could use TNT for that.

Just sent a Aust Post parcel collect ( Choose a Post Office for deliveries ) to daughter in Wagga. Sent Monday 10am. Received by Wagga PO 830am Tuesday.
Used the express parcel collect as it was only marginally more expensive

7.30am to 8.20am use to be my quite time in the office, I would settle down and prepare myself for the day, see whats hit overnight ect. Just me alone and no noise except for the aircon units.

Now, because some are trying to beat the traffic and found out that Im here early, its like a herd of damned wildebeests charging through the doors at 7.40am, talking to me, TALKING! Making noise, chatting, saying Good Morning. Good Morning, how dare they! STFU, its my quite time!

I should have added that was sent from a semi rural area post office where the postmaster knows his customers by name.
This is why my husband likes the PO office we moved to a couple of years ago, great team and first name basis. They are a subcontract/agency of some sort but a great team - general aussie posts offices hope to be as good as this office.

how dare they do what you are doing ;)

We should swap offices for a day Denali, some days I can go the entire day and not see anyone else. Arrive at 9am, leave at 5pm and only talk to people on the phone, no one else in the office all day.

Actually, theyre not.

They are not settling in and doing quite time, they are walking around, chatting, gossiping, making coffee (loudly/banging cupboards), on the phone talking to their mum/whoever. One guy is printing/binding books he downloads (hes been doing it for ages, I dont care), a women is talking to someone about her gym. Its all noise.

I miss the days I use to have an office with a door.

They are called "Licenced Post Offices", LPO's for short. They work on a commission basis (bill payments, Post Office stock sales, etc.) - which is getting thinner for many as more and more pay their bills online.

Our previous LPO was fantastic, when it changed hands the old owner made sure the new owner continued to look after me. I'll still go there when I have decent $$ to spend as I'd rather he have it than the grumpy one at work.

And NOW! The kitchen sink/water thing under the sink has sprung a leak and there is squealing and water spurting.

Coworker runs to tell me,
Me: Did you turn it off at the tap under the sink?
Her: No.
Me: So the water is still running?
Her: Its SPURTING. EVERYWHERE!

I think its one of those days I should have worked from home... but if I did, the wildebeests wouldnt have gotten in and if they did, the office would be drowning because no one thought to turn off the water at the tap thingy under the sink.

Must remember to breathe and these things can be fixed and all will be well again, when I get a plumber here.

Edit: And so far 3 people have phoned in sick so it might be a office pizza day for the troops.

Yes ours is an LPO.
I hope they get paid a bit for accepting parcels that could not be delivered by the commercial because in our area they don’t come with parcel- they just write out a “you were not home card pick up from LPO “ even if you are standing by the mailbox. If fact some of these clowns just pay some guy to ride around on a bike delivering cards.

I always wonder if the ever smiling proprietor of the LPO is in on the scam?? He never complains about it - even when one time I ordered 4 snow tyres online and picked up from his very small LPO (delivered from UK in cargo hold of QF2 for a bit of trivia)

At least hes not using the excuse of being a fact finding mission.

Im OK with some types of hunting, I eat meat, I know animals die for me but Im not OK with the carcass being humiliated.

Im not ok with "ivory hunting". Same with those that kill for rhino horn.

And lions - lion population is being decimated and they only want lions with the best manes, who generally have their own prides. When a lion takes over a pride he kills all the previous lion’s offspring, so the death of one lion at the hands of a hunter results in many more. The other problem is as the hunting areas get denuded of quarry, they then use every effort to temp animals out of the reserves. There are no fences and the animals can wander in and out, so easy to get a lion out and then legitimately kill him.

Didnt similar happen in Zimbabwe?

‘It is nothing more than racist theft’

SOUTH Africa’s parliament has voted in favour of a motion that will begin the process of amending the country’s Constitution to allow for the confiscation of white-owned land without compensation.
Yes and with that the end is nigh for that country.

Other countries with racist policies include
Malaysia (bumiputera)
And include Australia if it goes down the route toward First people recognition and the third chamber of legislative power

Malema is a protege of Mugabe (or should I say was). He is so extremist that the ANC booted him out and he formed his own party - has a lot of youth support.

I will have to email my brother and ask his opinion. He is a friend of Ramaphosa and was very positive about him, but this does not seem a good path to go down. The main problem in Zimbabwe was that the farms were either broken up into tiny plots to reward guerillas and became subsistence farms, or were grabbed by the elite who knew nothing about farming and they disintegrated as well, leading to major crop failures and starvation.

There is a problem with whites owning most of the farmland from an era where blacks were not allowed to own any. Mala Mala was bought for a crazy price by the Government a few years ago and returned to the community, but I suspect after years of corruption and money grabs by Zuma and his mates, there is no longer money to buy land.....
