Virtue signalling. I hate fundraising "events". Sure, Donate to charitable causes but pretending to be supporters of a charitable cause by turning up to a fundraising event is just fake.

The real supporters of charitable causes do it quietly and without fanfare.

On the other hand I get it that Charities find that fundraising events raise a lot of money. They understand that a bit of quid pro quo/ publicity for the "donators" is effective.
Virtue Signalling. So much of it going around right now.

The view from the top was alright :) flight home was fine and even 20 minutes early, so a good end to a troubled period of travel.
It's one place I'd love to return. We were there 46 years ago and don't remember too much other than the taxi going round and round up the hill.

I wasn’t aware that most businesses provided free parking for all staff.
We're not in the city, we're an office complex further out so we get ## parking bays for our building. We're growing so more staff employed, same amount of spots is causing issues.

Although I use to work for Wilson Parking in the CBD and that included parking if you wanted it.

But my employer was offering $ to walk/ride/bus, I would prefer the $ go to charity than me - its only going to cause tax issues for min income.

As does everyone else; I'm at my second hospital and pay through the nose for parking.
I guess the problem is, if you cant offer it to everyone, you can only offer it to those who can negotiate it in their agreement.

Someone here had a thought of "first in, first park". Yeah, nah. Im not having a GM or head of dept who was at a early off site meeting drive around in circles looking for a parking spot because Carol the 4hr part time temp got in at 10.30am.

There has already been discussions over who gets my parking spot while Im on leave. If it wasnt so dire, I would buy one of those kiddy cars and park it there :)

The issue for me with Nurses is safety given the times their shift finishes at night. No public transport (in Adelaide anyway). I think Nurses get a raw deal overall. And I’m not a Nurse.

By memory, nurses get to sal sac for their health fund premiums? There was a small cache for health industry workers, cant remember exactly what as its not my industry.

What happened to our cricket team? No sledging and lost the match? Warner worried he'll miss a test? How much can a koala bear?
Ah JohnK. They obviously were affected by and were missing your positive thoughts!:)

Among other things (many hospitals allow health workers to salary sacrifice towards the carpark too). It is not a big amount but better than nothing. Mind you that this benefit is not only for Nurses, most health workers are able salary sacrifice too.

Agree with you Pushka... Safety is a big issue in many hospitals (for example the cardiac surgeon who was "king hit" at a Melbourne hospital, end up in ICU and died due to the injuries. He was 41yo.

I mean nursing a tough job. I heard a nurse saying, after the 3rd time, ... oh Mr X so, you can walk, your legs are fine, you are here due to a minor procedure but you decided to poop in your bed and I have to clean you again. oh... you want to talk to a Dr? Dont mind my 13 years of experience in acute medicine but you want to talk to the Dr who just graduated out of uni last year??

I bought a coffee to that nurse, she had a tough day... And I also hope she and found carpark near the hospital too haha

Yes and I suppose there is the family to come as well and they are a bottomless pit too :( Hopefully the increase to wages that they keep on talking about will happen and that will help!
I wish! I realised last night that my current take home pay is barely more than I was earning 9 years ago in a part time role; I now work full time. Until our EBA negotiations are done there won't be any payrise.

We really need a dislike button on this board. :(. That seems to be the story across Australia. :(.

It's taken me two years to be on par with the pay from my previous, part time job, purely because that job had awesome salary packaging and this one requires sacrifice into my super. Overall this job wins hands down but its a long slog.
