I sat with a couple of friends behind Bob & Blanche 2 weeks ago on the 747 repositioned from SYD to MEL for the scenic flight to Antarctica.

They were both very gracious and put up with lots of photos and a chat.

He’s looking quite frail but he is 89!

Glad he has become more gracious in his dotage. I remember an incident in Whyalla when he was less than gracious towards an OAP.

What happened to our cricket team? No sledging and lost the match? Warner worried he'll miss a test? How much can a koala bear?

Good things come to those who wait.. lovely blue skies, little to no wind and the cable car is running so up the rock we go! Might even get to fly out of GIB this evening too rather than bus ;)

The view from the top was alright :) flight home was fine and even 20 minutes early, so a good end to a troubled period of travel.

At least 38 dead in Kathmandu plane crash

A passenger plane has crashed as it landed at Kathmandu airport, killing at least 38 people.

A passenger plane has swerved, crashed and burst into flames as it landed at Kathmandu airport in Nepal. killing at least 38 people.

A police official said at least 23 were injured.

The plane, a twin-propeller Bombardier Dash 8 flying from Bangladesh, swerved repeatedly before it crashed, landing near the runway.
Not a runway that Im in any rush to use. Very sad.

Mr and Junior P have landed here. It’s probably safer than the paragliding they did a couple of days later over Mt Everest and Himalayas.

Interesting that I see Melbourne and Qantas mentioned as very windy landing with cross winds up to 95km/hr in a Polish Website !!! the video is silent shows the wings bobbing up down even on the A380!

Just another windy day at MEL. The windsock suggests that the wind is aligned with the runway - so no 95kmh crosswinds. But if there was 95km crosswinds no one would be landing on that runway.

Re Windsocks - the one you see in the video suggests winds would be at least 15 knots.

The wings bobbing up and down in the video - thats minimal and very normal for any landing wind or no wind.

Australian airport which is Qantas Hub - why would anyone be surprised that the two are mentioned together

Just another journalist on a no news day.

Like most businesses, we struggle with supplying enough underground parking for all staff.

Boss suggested we pay people to walk/bike/bus to work. I suggested company donates to Charity for each day a person walks/bus/bike instead, we keep a tally and end of month cut a cheque and it frees up much needed parking for those that cant walk/bike/skate ect to work.

I would walk 2 x per week at least if I knew each walk earned $10 for my charity and most live locally.

Now we wait to see response.

Virtue signalling. I hate fundraising "events". Sure, Donate to charitable causes but pretending to be supporters of a charitable cause by turning up to a fundraising event is just fake.

The real supporters of charitable causes do it quietly and without fanfare.

On the other hand I get it that Charities find that fundraising events raise a lot of money. They understand that a bit of quid pro quo/ publicity for the "donators" is effective.

Yes the comment that aircraft "barely landed" is hilarious. Its probably one of the less windy days and from the camera angle it does not appear the aircraft needed to "crab" it in.

An aviator may be able to comment on the windsock and speed. Other windsocks have stripes to indicate speed.

Ive asked the question here:
Ask The Pilot.

I wasn’t aware that most businesses provided free parking for all staff.
