When the internet is used for good: ‘I believe this message was intended for someone else’

Is your tree accessible from the foot path? Do you have a view behind/in front of your house/tree that someone else wants to see?

Its not like a gum tree excretes salt. Seems like someone read a main ingredient in glysophate is salt or someone is a Supernatural fan and thinks your tree is possessed.

Agree that it could be possessed, you should see the amount of cough it sheds 24/7! It is accessable from the footpath, but I can't see it being an issue for anyone else or even blocking the views of others.

Well I am blaming AFF for the experience today. On the Tarkine drive shredded a tyre.Couldn't budge the nuts and out of mobile range. Thanks to another couple of old white males they showed me the trick to get a mechanically tightened nut off.
No thanks to the 3 cars driven by young things for driving past.

Another satisfied customer.

Actually quite simple. When you attach the wheel brace to a nut do it in the 10 o'clock position and then apply a size 12 boot to the end of the brace.Voila.nut loosened.

There's always a simple solution to a difficult problem.

Well not always.

A friends dad was a big shell collector, would wander the beaches to collect.

About a year ago the Smithsonian requested he send them some samples. Friends dad passed away shortly after.

Family just found out that dads samples were a new, unnamed species and it was named after him.

Awwwhhhh

That's how my dad taught me to undo wheel nuts. Stand on the wheel brace, balance with hands on the bonet/boot/roof and use my weight to leverage. Also how I tighten them back up. (all nuts just cracked, then jack the car up)

A very interesting article in "The New York Times" today about the tipping culture in the USA. Specifically, about the harassment both male and female staff have to put up with because of their absolute need to get tips to survive.

The Tipping Equation

The "minimum wage" for tipped workers in some U.S. states is horrendous - $2.13 anyone?

This article will make me more relaxed to tipping if I ever visit the U.S in the future but also makes me more sure that I don't want a "tipping to survive culture" in Australia.

Um. Gosh. Where u bin DrRon? We (including non white old males) did that in the 60s!

We're saving giant spiders?

Nope. Im ok with huntsmen in the house but nope.

I was bitten by 2 redback spiders in the first week we were in this house. I found one of them in my bed, but never found the other one.

Needless to say, I’m quite vigilant with spider proofing every year.

I’ve also had a Taipan (snake) confront me in my living room when I lived in North Queensland.

Remind me again why we still live in Australia

Interesting if he can talk his way out of 2 disciplinary charges in the same test... Dare say if Rabada is banned (which I still doubt will happen) the South Africans will say it's a conspiracy...............

Oh dear. Last week John Howard appeared for the Liberals for the SA election. This week, Bob Hawke was brought out of mothballs. He isn’t travelling too well. What is that line?

I sat with a couple of friends behind Bob & Blanche 2 weeks ago on the 747 repositioned from SYD to MEL for the scenic flight to Antarctica.

They were both very gracious and put up with lots of photos and a chat.

He’s looking quite frail but he is 89!

A very important date for NZ. GPH will be along shortly. ;)

Otago was founded in 1848. As a philatelist, I learned all about such things many years ago. NZ has a history of celebrating their city and provincial anniversaries.

You might recall my and JohnM's predicament heading up and into the Andes in western Argentina. Got a flat, got nuts off, but wheel 'welded' in place. Not to be shifted. Eventually got a ride into the next 'village', visit of a mechanico, skilful application of big tyre levers, et voila. Limped a couple of hours back to the main town with toy spare wheel.

I used to be strong in the 60s,even the 70s.Didn't need any tricks.
Just raise yourself up and put your considerable weight (or mine) on the tyre lever! After all Archimedes had less mass than we have and he understood the principle.
