Oh I wish we had first past the post here.
and that’s what happens with preferences. Person A gets the most outright votes but person C’s second preferences flow to Person B and they win. Why? It sometimes means that the person who gets the most votes is the one that the majority of people didn't vote for.
E.g. in an electorate of 100 voters person A could get 40 votes and people B and C get 30 each.
So 60 people didn't vote for person A but they're considered the winner even though 60% of the people voted against them.

The amount of plastic they use is amazing. With lunch/dinner wife can bring back 2-3 plastic containers and plastic bags.Geez, they are so prolific in Thailand I reckon you could get a suitcase full with a day's shopping for minor purchases. They look at me funny there when I refuse to accept the plastic bags.
Still, I'm just a strange Farang there so they tolerate my polite refusal.
Correct.Loathe as I am to point out the obvious but consumers already pay for the packaging of a product in its shelf price.
Even drinks are sometimes taken away in small plastic bags with ice as the shop keeper/assistant wants to keep the bottle for the refund.
