Balloon was floating around with a child and playful puppy. No puppies or children were harmed in the making of the ad but we got hate mail over the balloon

Oh I wish we had first past the post here.

Why? It sometimes means that the person who gets the most votes is the one that the majority of people didn't vote for.

E.g. in an electorate of 100 voters person A could get 40 votes and people B and C get 30 each.

So 60 people didn't vote for person A but they're considered the winner even though 60% of the people voted against them.

Happy with this although

and that’s what happens with preferences. Person A gets the most outright votes but person C’s second preferences flow to Person B and they win.

And this explains the “democracy” in Malcolm Roberts getting elected for 6 years of a $200K+ job in the senate in QLD with 77 votes.

Pity his “belief” in being an Australian citizen weren’t believed.

And his replacement Fraser Anning got a whole 19 votes.:)

And we pay their salary, perks and pension. Give them staff and an office. We are so stupid.

But if you arent using them and you dont carry them with you for shopping then why stock up more?
Good point. I might have to carry some with me in my backpack and leave some in the drawers at work.

Both the main Sydney papers have really stepped up their "no free read" efforts.

The Age is the same. You used to be able to copy and paste the url to get past it but that no longer works.

Had my Bose's since 2012, when I first joined AFF as just started flying more often and used 26K points for them. Ive replaced the ear thingies twice now and I use them daily at work.

No need to change them but the new ones look nice.

Geez, they are so prolific in Thailand I reckon you could get a suitcase full with a day's shopping for minor purchases. They look at me funny there when I refuse to accept the plastic bags.

Still, I'm just a strange Farang there so they tolerate my polite refusal.
The amount of plastic they use is amazing. With lunch/dinner wife can bring back 2-3 plastic containers and plastic bags.

Even drinks are sometimes taken away in small plastic bags with ice as the shop keeper/assistant wants to keep the bottle for the refund.

Loathe as I am to point out the obvious but consumers already pay for the packaging of a product in its shelf price.
Correct.

So if retailers started selling fresh meat + packaging you'll just accept it?

1 kg rump steak $19.99
+ plastic tray $0.25

Or milk

2L full cream milk $2.99
+ plastic bottle $0.30

Charging for plastic bags is a stupid idea. You still pay the same for shopping but pay extra for bags.

I saw that for the first time in Myanmar when I did the land crossing near Chiang Rai. I drank it and survived.

I can understand why they want to keep the bottles, they looked very old and would probably be collector's items in the west.

14,000 texts in a year! Thats 38 per day! Who has time for that?

Speaking of bottle refunds, last night was bin night and I saw a guy in full PPE going through the recycle bins, collecting bottles.
