The totally off-topic thread

Well not that I care much for the Australian film industry, but it does show they can make a good TV series.

I don't mind Sea Patrol, it starts a new series this Thursday, only problem is I'll be at Thargomindah (S/West channel country of Qld ) so hope I can pick it up There.

Cheers Dee

Don’t have a Foxtel iQ/iQ2? My elderly neighbour loves that show, so she’s looking forward to that too.

For some absolutely bizarre reason, a dream of mine a few nights ago consisted of:

- Me boarding plane and sitting in my seat. Strangely it was a Window seat ... very, very rare for me!
- Another bloke boarding after me, and commenting that I was in his seat. After some discussion I worked out I was in the wrong seat, and should have been a row forward. He then sits in my original seat.
- A Pax of extreme size (think of that AA photo that has been published recently) sits next to him and squashes him against the window.

I feel bad. After waking up, I actually was thinking of posting a thread about similar stuff :)

Can anyone interpret that dream for me? ;)

Does anyone know what the deal is with Hey Hey It’s Saturday! being on a Wednesday? They should rename the show.

As or you Mal, not sure what your dream means. Do you feel bad about another passenger from a recent flight, perhaps that is manifesting itself in your dreams?

Loved the Thargomindah motel. At dinner-"Do you have a wine list?"
"Nah.Just go to the fridge and pick yourself one love."

Hey Hey It’s Saturday would not be the same if they called it Hey Hey it's Wednesday :!:

It is an institution though probably mostly before your time Sam.

Hey hey! I'm not that much older but I still loved the show when it was on!

Still, why did they pick Wednesday.... as if what's currently on the 6.30pm Saturday timeslot is actually good.....

Hey, anat0l, you can't replace Funniest Home Video - my daughter loves it...she laughs even when she doesn't understand what just happened...but I do love her throaty chuckle and the regular "ouchy" she screams

I can think of two simple reasons:

  1. Ch9 want to distract people away from watching "The Pacific" on Ch7 tonight (note the time slots), and,
  2. they don't want it to go up against the 'footy' on Saturday nights.

Hey Hey was ok when it was on Saturday mornings. it wasn't bad viewing for the lads sitting around nursing hangovers. But when it went to Saturday night it lost its lustre. I just didn't consider it a nighttime show. On Saturday mornings it was a 'kids' show that grown-ups (oh ok, big kids :D) could watch.

Nine thinks it's on a winner with Hey Hey, so why waste it on a none event Saturday night that only footy fans tune in to ?

Can pick up 4 T.V. channels here at Thargomindah in the Van Park, so will watch Sea Patrol.

drron, the Pub has the same wine list as the Motel, pick your own ! We are the only "outsiders" in town, the flooded waterways have frightened the Southern Nomads (thank god), but we've been down to Hungerford, Eulo, without to much trouble, can't get to Innamincka, the Cooper is still "up".

Especially didn’t like that it overran last night, pushing all other shows to later time slots, if I’d gone out and recorded the later shows, I’d have missed all the endings.

Does anyone know what's happening in Singapore next week? I'm seeing hotel prices of ~$SG450 upwards for some nights....

Edit: Hmm - looks like conference season. Should have guessed! Oh well.

One of the weird consequences of the "ash attack" over the UK/Western Europe is the effect on airmail and deliveries of similar goods.

It is amazing how much people rely on air transport for many things!

So that’s what “by air mail - par avion” means :p

Good job I’m not expecting anything from the UK, though I’ve been waiting since December for something from Melbourne, and gradually piece by piece gets to me ;)

I think it means "It will get there when it gets there" ;)

Actually, I don't know for sure what is happening with Air Mail, but assume it isn't leaving the UK by air. At best guess, I would suggest they're probably trucking it over into Europe somewhere and getting it uplifted from there. Or stashing it away in a warehouse.

Wonder what DHL/Fedex etc are doing? Probably trucking it to one of their European hubs I'd guess.

Sent a parcel from the UK about a month ago that took 2 weeks to arrive in Oz. Things can move slowly at times, even without disruption.
