I spent a couple of hours making my new just out of the box phone exactly like my old phone. Same apps in the same spots, some ring tones, same wallpapers ect. Exactly the same. But better, but the same.

Drives hubby nuts.

I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 in December. Still using S5. The S7 has done a few trips with me already sitting in my jacket pocket.

When I sold a property recently, the Foxtel account got transferred to the new owner.

I checked with Foxtel today that it had all gone through OK, all monies paid etc, and it had, but because they asked me the usual 'security' questions' to get me through to my account (which I no longer owned), I then asked what personal details Foxtel had retained.

Innocently, the call centre guy reeled off my credit card last 4 digits, expiry etc - in other words, Foxtel was retaining ALL my personal info, even though I have no - and all I needed to get though to this was my name and DoB.

Call escalated and they refuse point blank to delete any of my personal information from their databases. More time about to be wasted.

As they are no longer a creditor and you no longer a customer for that account, there should be no reason to keep your data apart from simple identifying details necessary to mine historical accounts.

So I just walked into Optus and have a new iphone 8 Plus. I just couldn't go android. But the good news is that it is rose gold like my ipad.
Now my punishment is that I have to update Itunes, update my old phone, back up my old phone, then transfer over 10,000 photos

I used some sort of sync app so put on bluetooth on both and one sent/one received and data, numbers, photos, apps ect copied over. Very easy actually. Good luck!

Edit: You should also download the 10,000 photos to a drive and free your phone of all that baggage - you dont need it all.

With Android you just put the old and new handsets back to back and they'll do the transfers in a few seconds.

But I want those photos on my iphone. People always say if there is a fire that they will always grab photos once family and pets are safe. I just have to grab my phone as it contains all my treasured photos. Its not baggage, it is my lifetime memories, all catalogued so I know where to find every photo.
